Job Description

Position: Office manager

Supervisor: Lead Pastor

Hours: part time / 20hrs a week

St. John's Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, is a vibrant congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) that is committed to growing in faith, sharing God's love, and serving others. Our ministries include traditional and contemporary worship, faith formation for children, youth, and adults, community outreach, pastoral care, and The Children's Garden Early Learning Center. We value hospitality, collaboration, excellence, and compassion in all that we do. Every member of our staff plays an important role in supporting the mission and ministry of the church by creating an environment where people feel welcomed, cared for, and connected.

· Oversee and support all administrative duties in the office and ensure that office is operating smoothly

· Required office hours are 9 – 2 Monday – Thursday with other hours added as needed.

Qualifications:

· Positive attitude

· Able to appropriately support a variety of people and emotions

· Must be flexible

· Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office suite,

· Fast Learner

Duties:

1. Daily

a. Answering phones and greeting visitors

b. Opening mail and distributing to school, trustees, finance and staff members

c. Preparing bulletins and gathering music

d. Updating paper calendar

e. Maintaining online calendar with accurate time, place, event descriptions, and contact information

f. Maintaining website with regular updates

g. Maintaining church membership rolls, including updates to online directory and shepherding staff when a change occurs with a member

h. Record contributions and run reports for weekly offerings

2. Weekly

a. Have bulletin proofed by Pastors and proofreader

b. Print bulletins

c. Mail bulletins to homebound

d. Email readings to Saturday and Sunday readers

e. Organize money counters

f. Attend weekly staff meetings

g. Set up church with bulletins

h. Regularly update narthex screens with church events

3. Monthly

a. Compile council reports and emails to council members, assist with additional information to council and organizing meetings

b. Compile and format Good News (this is every 2 or 3 months) for approval

c. Review and reconcile Credit Card Bill

4. Yearly

a. Compile end of year offering reports for approval and prepare new records each year

b. Mail end of year statements

c. Annual Congregational Church meeting: Compile packets for meeting, attend and take minutes.

d. Order and distribute Offering envelopes, renumbering offering numbers based on current membership

5. Other Duties

a. Compile, format and print Funeral and Weddings bulletins

b. Change outside electronic sign with accurate information

c. Order office supplies

d. Order Flowers (weekly/special/Christmas and Lent)

e. Call vendors to have printers and other equipment fixed

f. Update Pictures and compile a directory for print

g. Maintain Sign up Genius activities

h. **other duties as assigned

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
