Heirship Abstractor – Oil & Gas Title Research

Location:
Remote (Preference: Pennsylvania / West Virginia region)

About Us

We are a land and mineral acquisition firm specializing in complex title research and ownership recovery. Our mission is to uncover, verify, and acquire fractional and dormant mineral interests—often buried in generations of undocumented inheritance.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heirship Abstractor with a strong background in oil & gas title research. The ideal candidate is skilled in constructing heirship trees, interpreting probate records, and tracing mineral rights through intestate succession across multiple generations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct heirship research using courthouse records, obituaries, census data, probate files, and online databases
Build accurate family trees and identify all legal heirs to mineral rights
Draft clear heirship reports and affidavits in accordance with industry standards
Analyze title chains and ownership interests, identifying breaks or curative issues
Collaborate with acquisition teams to verify ownership
Manage multiple projects with strict deadlines and documentation standards

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in title abstracting or heirship research
Strong knowledge of intestate succession laws (especially PA & WV)
Proficiency with courthouse research
Familiarity with mineral rights, oil & gas leases, and land title documentation
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet turnaround times

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with Affidavits of Heirship and Title Opinion support
Knowledge of DRAG, Run Sheets, and Ownership Reports
Background in genealogy, oil and gas title, or probate administration a plus

Compensation

Competitive yearly salary based on experience. Remote work available with flexible scheduling.
