SUMMARY

Marin Villages (www.marinvillages.org) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping older adults remain active, connected, and independent in the place they call home.

The Volunteer Manager is responsible for recruiting, screening, selecting, training, placing, and supervising volunteers. Using time and project management skills, the Volunteer Manager will work for the fulfillment of membership service calls, planning, and execution of programs and special events. Her or his attention to details, office organization, planning, execution, and relationship building, will contribute to the growth of the volunteer base and will ensure member satisfaction. The Volunteer Manager supervises volunteers, interns, and collaborates with staff, and local village coordinators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Manage all phases of volunteer development and proactively monitoring volunteer and member experience.

· Writes volunteer job descriptions, service request announcements, and other written communication for internal and external audiences to promote Marin Villages.

· Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment and retention plan.

· Use multiple social media platforms to recruit volunteers and to promote special events.

· Answer incoming phone calls, entering service requests, following up service completion, and resolving problems and unfilled requests.

· Manage Local Village Volunteer Coordinators and maintain open communication/strategy and collaborative relationships focusing on volunteer and member needs.

· Ensure effective record keeping, data tracking of all volunteer activities and run month-end and ad hoc reports. Track volunteer hours and implement volunteer recognition and award program.

· Support efforts in maintaining, enhancing and expanding the service provider database.

· Communicate with and conduct regular assessments with members and volunteers regarding programs and services.

· Develop and implement volunteer training, improve volunteer experience, and trouble shoot program deficiencies.

· Plan and organize events, including site selection, logistical arrangements, purchasing supplies, promoting events, scheduling and being the primary point of contact for the event.

· Collect and analyze data to write statistical and program reports.

· Implement community outreach and represent Marin Villages by working collaboratively with sister organizations and or government agencies to promote senior services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining volunteers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Terminating volunteers will be done in consultation with the Operations Manager and Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Curiosity and enthusiasm for working with older adults

· Project management and event planning

· Public relations, program marketing, and relationship building.

Excellent written, verbal skills and attention to details; ability to speak clearly and effectively with volunteers & members
Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (i.e. Pivot Tables)
High proficiency in the use of databases and report generation
Proficiency in social media and digital communications
Ability to solve problems creatively
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, persistence, and a sense of humor

· Capable of handling conflicts with tact, grace, and emotional competence.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree and two year experience working with volunteers in a nonprofit or educational organization.
