Workforce Development & Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Chief Program Officer

Directly Supervises: N/A

Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Position Summary

The Workforce Development & Volunteer Coordinator plays a central role in delivering high‑impact employment and volunteer training services to our community. This position supports participants by providing career coaching, skill development, job and volunteer placement support, and connections to wraparound services.

The Coordinator will be an essential part of Project ACHIEVE which supports clients to comply with new federal requirements, protect their access to public benefits, and expand delivery of robust supportive services to ensure that they can sustain progress towards their personal recovery, housing, and work goals. The Coordinator also collaborates closely with employers, training partners, and community-based organizations to ensure participants have access to meaningful career and volunteer pathways. This role is essential to meeting program goals, fulfilling grant requirements, and advancing the organization’s mission of economic equity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Support

Conduct outreach, intake, and assessment to understand participants’ strengths, barriers, and career goals.
Develop individualized career and volunteer service plans using a trauma‑informed, strength-based approach.
Provide job readiness instruction, including resume development, interview preparation, workplace norms, and soft skills.
Connect participants to supportive services such as housing assistance, childcare, legal aid, transportation, or mental health resources through internal programs or external partners.
Offer ongoing coaching, retention support, and follow-up after job placement.

Program Coordination

Coordinate training cohorts, workshops, and career pathway programs in alignment with grant deliverables and community needs.
Collaborate with nonprofit partners, training providers, and social service agencies to streamline referrals and support holistic participant outcomes.
Track participant progress and adjust support strategies to promote successful completion and job or volunteer placement.
Uphold principles of equity, inclusion, and participant-centered program design.

Quality Assurance and Reporting:

Maintain accurate participant files, case notes, and outcome data in the organization’s data management system.
Track and report required metrics for grant compliance, including enrollment, attendance, credential attainment, placement, and retention.
Assist in preparing reports for funders, leadership, and the Board of Directors.
Use data to identify trends, support continuous improvement, and strengthen equity outcomes

Program Improvement & Mission Alignment

Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement of job readiness and workforce training materials.
Participate in community events, coalition meetings, and partner convenings that strengthen local workforce ecosystems.
Stay informed about local labor market information and emerging career pathways.
Support a culture of collaboration, learning, and participant advocacy.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social work, Education, Human Services, Business, or a related field—or equivalent nonprofit and workforce experience.
2+ years of experience in workforce development, career coaching, case management, social services, or community outreach preferred.
Experience working with diverse populations and individuals facing systemic barriers to employment.

Preferred

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and rapport with participants.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices.
Ability to balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic nonprofit environment.
Familiarity with labor market trends, employer expectations, and community resources.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, case management systems, and data tracking tools.
Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus
