About the Morrisville Communications Department
The Morrisville Communications & Outreach Department plays a vital role in strengthening community connection, trust, and engagement across the Town. Committed to transparency, innovation, and high‑quality public service, the department leads the Town’s public information efforts, organizational branding, marketing, digital communications, and community outreach initiatives. By coordinating messaging across platforms—including web, social media, and strategic campaigns—the department ensures residents stay informed, involved, and connected to Town programs, priorities, and services.
Through creative storytelling, inclusive engagement strategies, and strong collaboration with Town leadership and departments, Communications & Outreach helps elevate Morrisville’s identity, highlight community achievements, and support major initiatives and events. Guided by the Town’s Strategic Plan, the department advances efforts that promote civic participation, celebrate the vibrancy of Morrisville’s diverse community, and reinforce the Town’s commitment to open, responsive, and accessible government.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll be the energetic force behind Morrisville’s creative branding and website image. You’ll dive into projects, collaborate across teams, and bring fresh ideas to life as you help create meaningful, positive visuals for the Morrisville community.
Some specific examples include (this is not an exhaustive list and is only for illustration purposes

Serves as website administrator for Town website and any related content (documents, graphics, etc.), ensuring adherence to compliance and accessibility standards, accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to Town Brand Standards

Monitors CMS to ensure up time through maintained vendor customer support and collaboration

Collaborates with IT to implement security protocols and coordinates messaging to users ahead of necessary site patches/updates

Conducts daily reviews and approves departmental web edits via workflow request for accuracy and consistency

Responsible for developing and administering training to staff on website best practices and accessibility compliance, including content development and editing

Serves as primary point of contact for all internal and external web-related inquiries, responding to all web-related CommsHelp tickets

Monitors CMS for access or content enhancements, interactive features and mobile app responsiveness (in coordination with IT)

Seeks user experience feedback to learn where there are challenges and where enhancements may be beneficial

Performs regular site and document audits for necessary management and content consistency

Regularly reviews website analytics to learn site performance, user behaviors and other data insights; assesses data to develop plans for future site enhancements, integrations and user experience improvements

Writes, edits, designs, publishes and distributes informational, educational, marketing and outreach materials targeted to a wide variety of target audiences.

Attends a wide variety of Town functions and community events such as charities, board meetings, and special events to support strategic communications efforts and promote the Town.

The Must Haves (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, digital media, web/multimedia design, computer programming, mass communications, or a related field.

A valid NC Driver’s License

At least 3 years of experience in government web administration or digital communications.
Set Yourself Apart (Preferred Qualifications)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CMS platforms, HTML/CSS, Adobe, Canva, Air (or other relevant digital design/editing applications), and accessibility standards.

Experience with ensuring compliance and accessibility standards under ADA and WCAG or relevant experience.
