Job Title: Therapist

Position Description:

The Therapist provides mental health and counseling services, crisis intervention, mental health assessments, and referrals, as well as staff training and detailed record keeping. This role will also act as a liaison with external agencies as well as to manage, control, and oversee the documentation required for legal, ethical, grant reporting and billing for mental health services and tracking outcome data.

Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:

Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates therapeutic services in alignment with the Eddy House strategy by providing direct client care with an emphasis on short-term solution-focused psychotherapy, assessments, and/or referral of clients to partner agencies.

Provides trauma-informed care for clients in crisis situations.
Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of the client's treatment to include referral of the member to external resources, as appropriate.
Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic (working) relationships with youth and their families.
Maintain effective collaboration with Eddy House Programing team including client services and case management staff to effect positive client outcomes.
Evaluate incumbents’ own practice through professional peer review, case conferences and other organizational means.
Develops and facilitates psychoeducational and support classes and groups.
Demonstrates the ability to teach and mentor staff and students in the special area of practice.
May assist in supervising the daily activities of clients, including performing support services that assist clients in everyday living skills. This may include supervision of clients' chores, monitoring mealtime activities, conducting social and recreational activities, etc.
Contributes to departmental program development, implementation, and evaluation.
Actively participate in the development of care plans to support the long term, sustainable independence of Eddy House clients.
Provide excellent and professional service to clients and community partners in person and on the phone. All communication is professional, confidential, client-focused, and helpful.
Assist others as requested or assigned.
Perform related duties as required.
Maintain a safe, clean, and sober environment.
Maintain professional and courteous appearance and demeanor.

Requirements/Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum: Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college or university by start date.
License: Fully licensed professional or State Intern with Supervisor who can assess, diagnose, and treat mental health disorders.
Must be able to receive clearance through a fingerprint/background check (criminal and child abuse).
Previous experience with clinical responsibility to include crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy; working with at-risk youth advocacy and/or housing/homeless advocacy is preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Word; ability to navigate and utilize web-based database programs.
Familiar with DSM-5 as a means of diagnosis.
Ability to remove bias and judgment; demonstrate open, honest, and calm approach while maintaining professional boundaries.
Ability to listen actively and respectfully; respond with warmth, compassion, and empathy.
Ability to work as a member of a team; be open to feedback; seek guidance, direction, and input from others.
Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to preparing clients for lasting and successful housing, vocational, educational, and treatment experiences; “low barrier” approach and include counseling, shadowing, training, modeling, and other interventions deemed necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and in a calm and pleasant manner.
High level of organization and attention to detail with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and write checklists, reports, and correspondence. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, memos, etc.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, stand, walk, bend, drive, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer business equipment and while driving. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually low level.

The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort and occasional light exertion. There is occasional exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and temperature changes.
