Technical Lead, Marketing TechnologyJob Summary
We are looking for an experienced marketing technology leader to join the team at TSEG, a division of Cloud[8]Sixteen, Inc. Our team provides digital advertising services for law firms nationwide.
In this role, as a Technical Lead you will steer our development team as we manage, maintain, and innovate the marketing technology stack - websites, lead gen landing pages, tracking infrastructure, conversion tools, and the integrations that connect them for clients across the United States. This role includes architecting scalable solutions, mentoring a growing team of developers, and ensuring every client property in our portfolio is secure, performs, and tailored to our clients' needs. You will also build and deliver landing pages, quizzes, and conversion infrastructure that power our clients' paid media campaigns, working closely with Operations and Sales to deliver compliant, performance-driven digital experiences at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & Mentor: Provide technical direction and professional growth for a team of developers. You will act as the final escalation point for complex debugging and will oversee regular code reviews to ensure best practices and high standards across all projects.
- Tooling & Optimization: Navigate the CMS and site-building platforms our clients run on (e.g., WordPress, Webflow, and page builders such as Elementor, Divi, and WPBakery) while ensuring the underlying code remains clean and efficient. You will be responsible for optimizing for Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS), ensuring all client properties meet Good thresholds for speed, interactivity, and visual stability.
- Architect Solutions: Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for marketing site and campaign infrastructure projects, from initial scoping to final deployment.
- Custom Development: Build and maintain bespoke themes, plugins, and components across the platforms we support. You will leverage structured-content tools (e.g., Advanced Custom Fields for WordPress, or equivalent field/schema systems on other platforms) to create intuitive, flexible editing experiences.
- Deploy & Manage: Deploy and manage client sites across cPanel, SFTP, managed hosting like WP Engine, and modern platform environments, including theme/build uploads, DNS configuration, and cache management.
- Security & Resilience: Own the security posture of our client portfolio end to end. Architect sites and hosting environments to minimize attack surface, including least-privilege access, hardened configurations, WAF and firewall rules, and secure plugin and dependency management. Monitor for and respond to threats such as brute-force attempts, malware injection, and vulnerability exploits. When an incident does occur, lead the response, isolating the breach, identifying root cause, and restoring clients from backups quickly and cleanly. Establish and maintain a reliable backup and disaster-recovery strategy, including automated backups, offsite storage, and tested restore procedures, so every site can be brought back online with minimal data loss and downtime.
- Conversion Infrastructure: Integrate quiz platforms, intake forms, and e-signature providers into landing pages.
- Tracking & Analytics: Implement and maintain tracking infrastructure including Meta Pixel, Conversions API (CAPI), Google Tag Manager, and GA4 to give Operations and Sales the data they need to optimize paid media performance.
- UI/UX Strategy: Bridge the gap between design and development. You will ensure that every site not only functions perfectly but offers a seamless, high-end user experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering experience focused on marketing websites and web applications, with mastery of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a server-side language such as PHP. Strong working knowledge of WordPress is required; experience across additional CMS or site-building platforms is a plus.
- Leadership: At least 4 years of experience in a Senior or Lead role managing or mentoring junior developers.
- Design Sensibility: A sharp eye for design and a deep understanding of UI/UX principles. You should be able to translate high-fidelity designs into pixel-perfect, responsive reality while suggesting usability improvements.
- Platform Customization: A proven track record of creating and modifying custom themes, plugins, and components. Expert-level proficiency with structured-content/field tools (e.g., ACF) for building custom admin interfaces is required.
- Environment Mastery: Direct experience executing site changes through cPanel and FTP, and/or modern deployment workflows; you should be comfortable managing files and databases manually when necessary.
- Security & Recovery: Deep knowledge of common web application security vulnerabilities, WordPress-specific and beyond, and how to architect against them. Proven experience preventing attacks through hardening, patching, access control, and WAF/firewall configuration. Hands-on experience responding to and recovering from a security incident, including triage, forensics, and restoring sites from backups. Comfortable designing and maintaining a backup and disaster-recovery strategy across a multi-site portfolio.

- Hosting Mastery: Direct experience managing hosting environments via WHM and WP Engine.
- SEO Acumen: A solid understanding of SEO best practices and how they intersect with modern web development.
