Full Job Description

Job Overview

I am seeking someone with a web design and social media background with video editing skills being a desirable bonus. The goal is to create and manage a custom website for a new livestream. Once the livestream begins this role would also be responsible for the management of social media accounts, posting, stories, statuses and ad integrations for social media on platforms like Instagram, X & Blusesky. The ideal candidate could be a full time student or worker in or around Boston, MA who consistently has enough hours of free time outside of that for 6 weeks this summer to build the first phase of the website and then a few hours each week starting in October to put towards site maintenance and social media. The vast majority of the work would be asynchronous and flexible, with only critical troubleshooting and time sensitive social media posts/updates having a set time. I'm looking more for a partner in this venture than an employee, and want someone who's creative input I value as much as their time.

During the interview process I will lay out the details of what I'm looking for with the website and we will agree on what is a reasonable to include in the initial build given the time and budget. We will meet regularly throughout the summer from July to September to make decisions about the website and discuss updates on progress. The goal is to begin livestreaming regularly in early October, at which point the role will switch to site mainenance and a gradual schedule of monthly upgrades along with the social media management tasks. We would work out any changes to the content and work-flow over the next 6 months until the end of March of 2027. At that point we can decide on terms for a perpetual partnership, or you will be free to move on from the project.

A business plan for the livestream and details about the content will be provided during the interview process. It will focus on media analysis, discussion and review for a well-known franchise. All will be explained and questions answered as we go through the interview process.

Payment

Initially I can offer a $50 per week minimum payment with an additional $50 each month for completing one of the agreed upon list of upgrades to the website. Any on-site work at the studio will be an additional $50 per visit. Any transportation costs will be reimbursed for any meeting or studio session and a meal will always be provided. Ultimately, the bulk of compensation will come in an agreement for the Web Designer/Social Media Manager to receive 50% of the revenue of any website/social media advertisement, that you would manage, with no cap or limit. This could become extremely lucrative if the channel grows as expected, and the website and social media would be a major part of making that happen.

Responsibilities

I'm open to a discussion of defining the scope of your role and how much you'd like to take on vs eventually delegating to me as producer or to the editor as makes sense. The most important responsibility early on will be bringing flexibility and good ideas for how we work with what we have to get this livestream off the ground and thriving.

Review the concept for the website and provide creative input that will be incorporated
Advise and help implement the software and content workflow practices that will work best for the website concept.
Troubleshoot bugs with the website after launch to maintain good operation and resolve any issues that pop up.
Work to integrate improvements on a month to month basis until all envisioned functions for the website are built out and working.
Manage social media content for the brand including posting, stories, statuses and ad integrations for social media on platforms like Instagram, X & Blusesky.
Solicit appropriate ads and sponsorship deals for the website and social media to increase revenue for the brand (50% of all of these earnings are yours)
Create a manual for the website thus that someone else could come in to work on the site independently and understand how it is built.
Bonus: Be willing/able to work with the editor to learn how to edit livestream content for the channels as needed to supplement content production. (additional compensation available for this work)

Requirements

I am willing to be flexible on formal education and experience requirements given the startup nature of this opportunity. If you have a genuine interest and aptitude for being a creative partner and can handle the directing/editing that is required, then you could be right for this position.

Any experience building a website, particularly integrating live video embedding, Youtube video content and corresponding chat and comment features
Understanding of the basics of graphic design as far as would be neccessary to create a high quality website design that can live up to the concept.
Desire to cultivate and express a compatible personal visual style
Good time management and an efficient enough workflow to meet the 6 week web design timeline within budget and enough free time to commit to a consistent site maintenance/social media management schedule
A keen sense of how to make social media posts/pages go viral and perform well in the algorithm
A working knowledge of the software and tech needed to build and run a website of this kind and the best practices for a livestream website setup and the desire to troubleshoot and learn new technology or programs needed for your role.
Aspirations to be a core part of the project and reap the rewards of channel growth

Pay: $250.00 - $2,500.00 per month
