Job description:
Primer Paso is seeking independently licensed clinicians or clinicians that are working towards licensure to join our team - this includes but is not limited to a PhD, LMFT, LICSW and LPCC.
Reports to: Treatment Director
Location: Bloomington, MN 55425 (Required)
- Position Type: Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Schedule: Full-Time. Generally, Monday – Friday office hours, with occasional evening hours to accommodate clients as needed.
Estimated Salary: $60,000.00 to $85,500.00 (depending on experience & qualifications).

Job Expectations
- Clinicians will be expected to offer therapeutic services based upon their preferences and competencies. Practice options include individual work, group therapy, family therapy, couples work, etc. Looking for clinicians who work with our internal outpatient and inpatient chemical health clients
- Clinicians participate in the assessment and screening of individuals, as well as the design, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans.
- Clinicians are expected to coordinate proactive discharge planning and referrals.
- Clinicians MUST want to work on an integrative team, even if they choose our private practice option. At Primer Paso, clinicians and admin staff are all treated with respect and are valued no matter what level of the education journey they are currently in.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Mental Health Therapy Services and Program Development
- Provide culturally responsive mental health therapy services to families, individuals, couples, and groups in English and Spanish in a variety of settings, including in the office and via telehealth.
- Consult with other staff, interns, and volunteers within Behavioral Health and other departments on mental health related topics. Attend and participate in clinical case consultation meetings and other client staff meetings.
- Cultivate working relationships with potential service collaborators, partners, and other appropriate stakeholders.
- Provide consultations and presentations to individuals and/or groups in the community, other professionals and organizations.
- Cultivate working relationships with staff within and across departments, to support one another’s work, facilitate client referrals, and improve client flow throughout the agency.
- Participate in care coordination with other providers who may be supporting clients in different capacities.
Contract and Program Compliance
- Ensure goals for weekly billable client contact are met.
- Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation per department standards and all requirements. Ensure client data is up to date to facilitate timely processing of service lines for billing purposes.
- Adhere to contract expectations related to the provision of mental health therapy and related activities.
- Respond to all internal & external data collection & reporting requests.
- Participate in all internal and external activities required as stated in program contracts.
General
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.
- Contribute to the collaboration of the department with other programs within Primer Paso to achieve service integration.
- Participate in weekly supervision meetings, biweekly team/group meetings, “All Staff” meetings as scheduled, and other meetings as assigned.
- Follow the code of ethics of the applicant’s professional board.
- Carry out all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities. However, if a candidate has the appropriate licensure and experience, and a desire to supervise other providers, there may be opportunities to supervise. Supervisory responsibilities could be explored and negotiated with the Treatment Director.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSEducation, Experience & Key Abilities
- Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited university required.
- Licensed as a social worker (LGSW or LICSW) or working toward clinical licensure as a marriage and family therapist (LAMFT/LMFT), professional counselor (LPC/LPCC), or psychologist (LP) in the State of Minnesota required. With clinical licensure, must be eligible to be credentialed with all major insurance companies.
- Must have a deep understanding of Latinx cultures, values, and traditions, and demonstrate cultural responsiveness in every aspect of the role, including communication with colleagues, staff, clients, community members; creating forms and documents; hiring and training staff; and in clinical supervision and consultation.
Language Skills
- Effective communication in Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing, required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written materials, including reports, contracts, and proposals.
- Ability to effectively present ideas and information in and organized and effective manner, including writing reports.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and respond appropriately to questions from clients, co-workers, management and external parties.
Computer Skills
- Proficient working knowledge of email software, the Internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS : Background check
- Must pass a criminal background check and MS-604.20 background check. As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks.
