Job Description: Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Accountant to join our team and provide comprehensive, high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to the Firm’s clients. In this role, you will act as a trusted financial partner to a growing client base while collaborating with and supporting other team members. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical mindset, the ability to mentor junior staff, and a talent for balancing day-to-day financial reporting with long-term strategic tax planning.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Advisory Services

Financial Reporting: Prepare, compile, and review client financial statements.
Bookkeeping & Reconciliations: Handle after-the-fact bookkeeping and monthly bank reconciliations.
Payroll Administration: Process payroll, manage payroll tax deposits, and prepare/file payroll tax returns.
Sales Tax Compliance: Prepare and file sales tax returns and facilitate timely payments on behalf of clients.
Accounts Payable: Manage full-cycle client bill-pay services.

Tax & Planning

Tax Preparation & Planning: Prepare tax returns and develop strategic income and estate tax planning solutions.
Audit & Agency Support: Assist clients with issues and audits related to the IRS and state taxing authorities.
Business Advisory: Provide strategic business planning services to clients.

Leadership & Collaboration

Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to Accounting Associates.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively across the firm, bringing a positive, solution-oriented attitude to daily operations and client service.

Required Skills & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in QuickBooks and Windows-based software (specifically Microsoft Office Suite).
Core Competencies: Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong time management and prioritization skills.
Professionalism & Interpersonal: A dedicated team player who maintains a highly professional attitude, demeanor, and appearance.

Office Hours & Expectations

Standard Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Closed for lunch from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM).
Overtime: Required as necessary, with peak volume occurring during tax season (January – April).

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Director or Senior Accountant

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
