Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and client-focused Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to serve as a Tax Department Manager. This role oversees all aspects of the firm's tax practice, including individual, business, and international tax services. The ideal candidate is proactive with extensive experience in tax planning, advisory, compliance, client relations and department innovation. We are looking for a candidate with experience that also includes international taxation/treaties and international tax forms (important forms for the firm are 5471 and 5472). During the interview process, we do a thorough technical analysis of skills to make sure there is a good technical fit. Additionally, this role would be listed on the firm's ERO as a responsible official and would be the leader of the tax department.

Duties

Lead the preparation, review, and sign federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals with accuracy
Establish and maintain best practices to improve efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting to support accurate tax reporting.
Develop strategic tax planning initiatives aimed at minimizing liabilities while maintaining full compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.
Utilize advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms for bookkeeping, account analysis, and financial statement preparation, as needed.
Stay current on updates in tax law changes, and industry best practices to provide forward-thinking advice.
Give detailed feedback to preparers during final review to help expand team tax knowledge.
Quote prospect services appropriately based on prospect tax situation/needs.
Partner with leadership to give tax insight for new, proprietary technology being built by the firm.

Trusts and Estates (1041)
Nonprofit Organizations (990)
Provide technical guidance on entity structuring, reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, and business succession planning.
Additional forms may become revelant over time

International Tax

Review and oversee filings including but not limited to:

FBAR (FinCEN Form 114)
FATCA reporting
Forms 5471, 5472, 8865, 8858, 8938, 1116, and other international information returnsDevelop tax-efficient cross-border strategies while ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulations.
Coordinate with foreign advisors when necessary.

Qualifications

Active CPA license in good standing
10+ years of progressive public accounting experience.
5+ years of leadership or management experience.
Extensive experience in individual, business, and international taxation.
Strong expertise in tax planning and advisory services.
Deep knowledge of IRS regulations and federal/state tax laws.
Experience in Drake software.ERO Authorized.

Preferred

Master's in Taxation (MST) or related advanced degree.
Experience serving high-net-worth individuals and multi-entity businesses.
Experience leading department growth and operational improvements.
Experience in CCH software.

We are a remote, full-service tax and accounting practice. Our clients range from no revenue startups to large hedge funds/PE firms. Our top priority is client success and compliance and we've been happy to serve a book of roughly 350 clients. Within the next 12 months, we are looking to expand rapidly.

*We are not a licensed CPA firm, therefore we do not conduct audits.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
