Full Job Description

Join Our Team

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and supporting the financial integrity of the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of Accounts Payable experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment. Experience within transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or asset-based trucking operations is a plus.

This position is based at the Corporate office in Wausau, WI.

Key Responsibilities

Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documents as applicable.
Manage payment schedules and ensure vendors are paid in accordance with agreed-upon terms.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly.
Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive business relationships.
Monitor accounts for payable aging and identify opportunities to improve payment processes.
Assist with month-end closing activities, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Support audits by providing requested documentation and account information.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely invoice processing.
Adhere to company policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.

Qualifications

Required

Minimum of 3 years of Accounts Payable experience.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting principles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred

Experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, distribution, or asset-based trucking.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience with ERP or integrated accounting systems.
