Full Job Description

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems, manufacturing processes, and product compliance within a high-volume wire harness and cable assembly manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on quality engineering support across cable preparation, crimping, molding, harness assembly, and ultrasonic welding operations while partnering closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.

The Quality Assurance Engineer plays a critical role in driving defect reduction, process capability improvements, customer satisfaction, and compliance with industry and customer quality standards. The position requires a strong production floor presence and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Quality Systems & Compliance

· Support implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).

· Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.

· Assist with document control, quality procedures, work instructions, and record retention.

· Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and quality documentation.

· Participate in PPAP submissions and customer qualification requirements.

Manufacturing Quality Support

· Provide quality engineering support for: Cable preparation and wire processing, Harness assembly, Crimping operations, Ultrasonic welding, Molding processes

· Monitor incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product conformity.

· Assist with process validations, equipment qualifications, and new product introductions (NPI).

· Support implementation of process controls and statistical monitoring methods.

Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

· Lead and support investigations utilizing: 8D Methodology, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, CAPA Processes

· Analyze quality metrics and manufacturing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

· Drive scrap reduction, yield improvement, and defect prevention initiatives.

· Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement programs.

Customer & Audit Support

· Assist with customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.

· Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.

· Prepare quality reports and documentation for customer communications and management reviews.

· Support customer quality inquiries and containment activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Partner with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.

· Provide guidance and training to operators and supervisors on quality standards and best practices.

· Participate in daily production meetings and quality reviews.

Qualifications:

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and 5 years experience may be considered.

Experience

· 3+ years of quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

· Experience supporting production quality systems and process improvement initiatives.

· Strongly preferred experience in: Wire and cable manufacturing, Harness assembly, Crimping operations, Ultrasonic welding, Molding processes

· Experience supporting customer quality requirements and audits preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality systems.

· Experience with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, CAPA, and 8D methodologies.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and quality reporting systems.

· Experience with ERP systems such as SAP preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

· Regular presence on the manufacturing floor.

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

· Exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, and production environments.

· Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all safety requirements.
