Orion Solutions, LLC is actively seeking an Amphibious Ship Steam Main Propulsion and Control Systems Lead, supporting a government customer in San Diego, CA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Amphibious Steam Lead will provide senior-level diesel propulsion inspection, training, and technical leadership in support of Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNSP) Readiness Assessment Training Team (RATT) ship visits. This role will assess steam main propulsion systems, associated control systems, and auxiliaries; identify material and procedural deficiencies; mentor ship's force personnel; support AWR development and root cause analysis; and advise shipboard leadership on readiness, safe operations, maintenance practices, and corrective actions.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Understand and provide guidance on shipboard technical data such as: Technical manuals, EOSS, safety procedures, approved maintenance procedure, technical diagrams.
Independently or leading a team of engineering SME's, will provide relevant shipboard training tailored to an individual ship while informing schoolhouse, waterfront trainers and assessors of fleet-validated learning needs, to improve Sailor performance and enhance mission readiness, ultimately resulting in a more self-sufficient fleet.
Compile issue trends to target known and potential problems that are addressed by the training community.
Assist ships force with troubleshooting, repairing or testing U.S. Navy ship structural, mechanical or electrical equipment/systems and U.S. Navy shipboard Diesel Engines associated with propulsion and electricity generation.
Independently or leading a team, will accomplish material condition assessments of U.S. Navy shipboard Steam Engines associated with propulsion and electricity generation.
Provide Technical expertise during various assessment and certification evolutions, such as LOA/INSURV.
As part of an onboard technical assist visit, provide ships force with on-the-job training (OJT).
Assist with the identification of required repair parts necessary to correct system malfunctions.
Troubleshooting, assessment, and oversight of repairs of U.S. Navy shipboard Deisel Engines associated with propulsion and electricity generation.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (Associate degree, Navy technical training, or equivalent operational experience may also qualify)

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of fifteen (15) years of supervisory experience in analyses, information system operations, and implementation of technical projects.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of supervisory level watch standing experience on warships or military auxiliaries with gas turbine main propulsion as Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Officer, Chief Engineer, or equivalent responsible for overall propulsion plant operations and associated control and auxiliary systems.
Direct operational and maintenance experience, within the last five (5) years, with diesel main propulsion, diesel generators, associated control systems, and associated auxiliaries currently in use by the Navy.
Supervisory main propulsion experience with Navy surface ship maintenance processes.
Extensive experience as shipboard Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) on multiple ships.
Extensive experience in Navy Ship main propulsion engineering on multiple ships.
Maintenance/training staff experience (e.g. Immediate Superior In Charge (ISIC), Type Commander (TYCOM), or Afloat Training Group).
In-depth knowledge of Navy ship depot level maintenance processes.
In-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of surface ship maintenance processes.
9502 Instructor NEC/MTS-ATS preferred.
Proven proficiency in PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, consulting/client management, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven strong ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.
Hold Current Secret Clearance or able to obtain Secret Clearance.
US Citizenship required.
Location: San Diego, CA.
Travel: 15% - 40% of the time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to spend extended periods on your feet while instructing and performing assessments.
Work may be performed in office environments, shipboard spaces, industrial maintenance facilities, shipyards, or waterfront operations areas.
