Overview
We are hiring a Government Construction Project Manager to oversee public construction projects from planning through closeout. This role manages schedules, budgets, contractors, inspections, documentation, and communication between owners, engineers, architects, vendors, and field teams.
The right person understands construction, can manage multiple moving parts, and knows how to keep government projects on track with proper documentation and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage government construction projects from start to finish.
- Review plans, drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, architects, and government representatives.
- Track project schedules, budgets, change orders, RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and closeout documents.
- Monitor job progress through site visits, meetings, reports, and contractor updates.
- Identify delays, cost issues, safety concerns, and quality problems before they get worse.
- Maintain accurate project records, meeting notes, reports, photos, and compliance documents.
- Review contractor work for quality, scope, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, permits, materials, and project milestones.
- Communicate project status clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
- Support procurement, bid review, contract administration, and vendor coordination.
- Confirm projects meet local, state, federal, and agency requirements.
- Assist with punch lists, warranty items, and final closeout.
Requirements
- Experience managing construction projects, preferably government, municipal, public works, civil, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project scheduling, budgeting, and jobsite coordination.
- Ability to read and understand plans, blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage contractors and hold teams accountable.
- Comfortable working in the field and in an office setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass any required background check, drug screen, or government clearance process.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction project management experience.
- Experience with government-funded or public-sector construction projects.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience with project management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera, Bluebeam, or similar.
- Knowledge of procurement rules, certified payroll, Davis-Bacon requirements, or public bid processes.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
