Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Application Developer I in the Central Administration within the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Under the direction of the Director of IT for Enterprise Student Services and Integration, the Application Developer I designs and implements integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, including AWS, Heroku, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Additional tasks related to the ongoing documentation, maintenance, and improvement of supported web-based applications will also be performed.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Designs and implements data integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, including AWS, Heroku, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
Maintains and improves supported web-based applications and integration processes and communicate with vendor support teams, as necessary.
Troubleshoots problems, works with staff to resolve problems; works closely with functional users to understand and resolve open issues.
Participates in change management and release management activities. Identifies and reports risks, issues, and dependencies of assigned tasks/projects.
Participates in test planning, performs unit, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing as needed, and applies performance optimizations.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Plus, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience required.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Certifications/Licenses

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, detail-oriented, and thorough required.
Must have effective organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to take charge, gain support and commitment, initiate actions, and make logical decisions.
Able to prioritize, schedule, and complete development, configuration, and testing required for multiple projects with overlapping schedules.
Able to meet with clients to manage tasks and translate requirements into technical work action items.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with Django framework or other Python web development frameworks, preferred.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, jQuery, Vue.js, and Node.js, preferred.
Familiarity with AWS, Heroku, Oracle Integration Cloud, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, preferred.
Knowledgeable in version control with Git and GitLab, Jira, and Confluence, preferred.
