The Opportunity
AVL Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Take-off Estimator & Drafting Specialist to support the estimating and preconstruction process for acoustical wall and ceiling systems used in commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for reviewing architectural drawings and specifications, performing accurate quantity takeoffs, preparing material estimates, and supporting the development of project quotations.

The ideal candidate has experience with commercial construction estimating, Division 9 interior finishes, architectural plan reading, and quantity takeoff software. Candidates with drafting or shop drawing experience are strongly preferred. This is a remote role supporting manufacturing based in Ocala, Florida.

Key Responsibilities

Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate material take-offs and cost estimates for acoustical ceiling and wall systems.
Create and revise shop, fabrication, and production drawings that meet project specifications, manufacturing requirements, and installation standards.
Prepare estimating and technical documentation to support quotations, value engineering, and project execution.
Collaborate with Project Managers to resolve drawing and specification discrepancies and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain organized project documentation and ensure the accuracy and quality of all estimating and drafting deliverables.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide support across estimating and drafting functions as business needs require.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in estimating, quantity takeoffs, or construction material analysis
Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings and construction specifications
Prior experience with commercial interiors, acoustical products, wall systems, ceilings, or Division 9 finishes preferred
Experience using takeoff or estimating software preferred
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required), REVIT a plus
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, tolerances, and construction/assembly methods.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

Commercial construction or specialty subcontractor estimating experience
Experience with acoustical systems, millwork, architectural specialties, or interior finishes
Familiarity with shop drawings and submittal processes
Experience working in a manufacturing or production-supported environment

Job Details

Full-Time, Non-exempt
Monday to Friday (8am - 5:00pm EST)

Pay: $30.00 - $31.00 per hour
