Job Summary

Project Engineer – Field Measurement & CAD DesignJob Summary

SCHILDR is an engineering-driven company specializing in premium aluminum architectural systems, including luxury pergolas, retractable roofs, glass enclosures, sunrooms, sliding systems, guillotine windows, and custom architectural solutions for residential and commercial projects.

We are looking for a motivated Project Engineer who enjoys both field work and technical design. This position combines field measurements, AutoCAD drafting, project coordination, and engineering support to ensure every project is accurately designed, manufactured, and installed.

You will work closely with architects, contractors, homeowners, project managers, and our engineering team to verify field conditions, prepare shop drawings, and support projects from site measurement through final installation.

If you have experience in architectural aluminum systems, curtain wall, glazing, windows & doors, façades, or custom construction products, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Perform accurate field measurements at project sites throughout New Jersey and surrounding states.
Verify existing site conditions prior to manufacturing.
Prepare detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for production and installation.
Read and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, and construction documents.
Coordinate with engineering, sales, manufacturing, and installation teams.
Prepare fabrication drawings, installation details, and material layouts.
Assist with project planning, engineering solutions, and technical problem solving.
Support projects from initial measurement through final installation.
Communicate professionally with homeowners, architects, general contractors, and project managers.
Maintain accurate project documentation and measurement records.
Ensure all drawings meet SCHILDR engineering and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction or architectural industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Ability to read architectural and construction drawings.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Valid driver's license.
Willingness to travel throughout New Jersey and neighboring states.

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following:

Aluminum architectural systems
Pergolas
Retractable roof systems
Sunrooms
Glass wall systems
Sliding door systems
Curtain wall
Storefront systems
Windows & Doors
Architectural metal products
Structural glazing

Training will be provided on SCHILDR products and engineering systems.
