About the Position:
The AV Service Technician is a mobile, field-based role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing integrated audiovisual (AV) systems in customer environments. This position supports both preventative maintenance and break/fix service for commercial AV systems. The AVST operates independently while working closely with the Customer Support team to coordinate service appointments, ensuring system reliability through maintenance, firmware updates, hardware replacement, and configuration adjustments.
What You Will Do:
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on integrated AV systems, including inspections, testing, and updates to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across audio, video, control systems, and conferencing technologies
- Analyze signal flow and system configurations to identify and correct faults
- Modify DSP configurations and load/verify AV control processor programming
- Replace defective components and coordinate RMA processes when needed
- Read and interpret system drawings, signal flow diagrams, and technical documentation
- Document all service activities, system conditions, and resolutions, and communicate updates to internal teams and customers
What We’re Looking For:
Education and Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required within first year:
- OSHA 10 certification
- AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)
- AVIXA CTS-I certification
- AV9000 CQT (Certified Quality Technician)
- OSHA 30 certification
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience working with integrated audiovisual systems
What We Prefer:
- Strong understanding of audio and video signal flow
- Experience troubleshooting integrated AV systems in commercial environments
- Familiarity with videoconferencing and audioconferencing platforms
- Basic knowledge of AV control systems and networked AV environments
- Proficiency in cable terminations (crimp, solder, captive screw, and related standards)
- Ability to read and interpret signal flow diagrams, installation drawings, and technical documentation
- Ability to work independently in a mobile field environment
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and travel up to 20% with a valid driver’s license
