Full Job Description

Overview

The Production & Catering Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in overseeing daily food production while ensuring exceptional quality and consistency for both on-premise and off-premise events. This role combines kitchen production, menu execution, event leadership, and culinary creativity. The ideal candidate is organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable leading teams both in the kitchen and at off-site events.

What You'll Do

Lead kitchen production and support daily operations in coordination with Executive Chef.
Prepare and execute high-quality food for weddings, corporate, social and catered functions.
Lead kitchen staff in prep, production, and service.
Maintain quality standards in recipes, portioning, and presentation.
Manage producftion timelines to meet multiple event deadlines.
Supervise the packing, loading, and organization of food and equipment for off-site catering events.
Travel to off-site events as needed to oversee food quality, execute service, plate meals, carve stations, and assist with event setup and breakdown.
Support menu development, tastings, and seasonal offerings.
Ensure food safety and sanitation compliance.
Assist with inventory management, purchasing, and waste control.
Train, coach and mentor culinary team members while promoting a positive team environment.

What You'll Bring

3+ years of culinary experience in high-volume catering, banquet, restaurant, or hospitality environments.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of food production, banquet service, and catering operations.
Experience executing plated dinners, buffets, cocktail receptions, and wedding service.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple events simultaneously.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain.

Schedule Expectations

This position requires a flexible schedule based on business needs, including:

Evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Early morning production shifts as required.
Off-site weddings, festivals, corporate events, and catered functions.
Participation in client tastings, menu development sessions, and special culinary events.
Extended shifts during peak catering and wedding seasons.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
