As the Database Specialist, you will act as the primary technical architect operating environment managing and solving some of the toughest challenges on the project. The replication environment includes two servers running Oracle Enterprise Edition databases in a multi-master replication setup, as well as multiple End User Devices (EUDs) running Oracle Enterprise Edition configured as materialized view sites. The EUDs synchronize data with one of the master server databases. Responsible for creating and maintaining the database installation, update, and configuration scripts, as well as the Procedure Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) packages and procedures used in configuring and performing replication between the mobile portion of the application running on tablet PCs and the central web application, in accordance with DISA security guidelines. Uses Computer Associates’ ERwin Data Modeler software to design the database, to generate SQL scripts containing Data Definition Language (DDL) for the database, and to generate the Data Dictionary documentation.
You will also be responsible for providing deep technical expertise in database design, ETL, reporting and analytics.

Required Elements
This position will be responsible for tracking, monitoring and reporting on all work assigned by the Program Manager and will require the candidate to assist in the efficient assignment and organization of work, scheduling and planning projects ad hoc requests and issues. Ensure timely upward and downward status reporting.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT consulting with at least 6 years in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing.

Experienced practitioner in implementing mid- to large-scale ETL solutions, performing data analysis and profiling, interacting with client management, leading ETL teams, and designing and architecting DW ETL solutions.

INFORMATICA: At least 3 years’ experience in Informatica version 8.x or higher design and development is a must. Informatica certifications desirable.

ORACLE: Experience in database performance optimization techniques, multidimensional database designs, and physical database implementations.

In-depth knowledge of BI best practices and data modeling techniques a must. Capable of writing sophisticated queries and PL/SQL stored procedures.

BUSINESS OBJECTS: Strong background in BO 6.5 and XI. Experience installing and configuring BO, as well as designing and developing Universes and reports.

Experience with AT LEAST ONE OTHER BI OR ETL TOOL (see Desired Elements).

ERWIN or POWERDESIGNER: Experience using one or both data modeling tools from logical design through physical implementation and generation of data definition language (DDL).
