Design Coordinator – Custom Homes, Remodeling & Light Commercial

Join Our Team

We are seeking a Design Coordinator to guide clients through one of the most exciting parts of the building process—the design and finish selection phase. This position is ideal for someone with an eye for design, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for creating beautiful, functional spaces.

You'll work closely with homeowners, business owners, architects, cabinet makers, vendors, and our construction team to ensure every interior and exterior finish is thoughtfully selected, documented, and ready for construction. Our projects include high-end custom homes, major remodeling and additions, and select light commercial projects.

Responsibilities

Guide clients through the selection of interior and exterior finishes for custom homes, remodeling projects, additions, and light commercial spaces.
Coordinate appointments with cabinet makers, countertop fabricators, flooring suppliers, lighting showrooms, plumbing fixture suppliers, tile vendors, and other finish suppliers.
Assist clients in selecting:
Cabinetry
Countertops
Flooring
Tile
Paint colors
Plumbing fixtures
Lighting
Interior doors and hardware
Exterior siding, stone, roofing, windows, and trim colors
Develop complete finish schedules and specification sheets for each project.
Create and manage a project selection timeline to ensure decisions are made ahead of construction milestones.
Ensure all selections are finalized and communicated before they impact project schedules.
Communicate selections clearly with project managers, foremen, subcontractors, and vendors.
Review plans and specifications for consistency and identify potential design conflicts.
Maintain organized project files, samples, and digital records.
Coordinate with vendors to verify product availability and lead times.
Assist with product ordering, tracking allowances, and documenting upgrades or client changes.
Help create a seamless, enjoyable experience for clients throughout the design and construction process.

Qualifications

Experience in interior design, residential construction, kitchen and bath design, architecture, remodeling, or a related field.
Strong understanding of residential building materials, finish products, and construction methods.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Outstanding communication and customer service abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Buildertrend, CAD, Chief Architect, SketchUp, or other design software is a plus.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
