Data Center Business Development Manager

Location:

ABOUT PURE PLASTICS AND METALS

Pure Plastics & Metals is a leading plastic and metals custom manufacturer. We partner with data center operators, hyperscale’s, co-location facilities, and IT asset disposition (ITAD) firms to provide responsible, compliant, and value-maximizing solutions for data center facilities. As the data center industry continues to scale, we are seeking a driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth in this mission-critical industry.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Center Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business within the data center, hyperscale, colocation, and ITAD sectors. This role owns the full sales cycle — from prospecting and relationship development through contract negotiation and account onboarding. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of data center operations and infrastructure materials, paired with experience in plastic and metal manufacturing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development & Sales

Identify and pursue new business opportunities with hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise data centers, colocation operators, and ITAD companies.
Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and cold outreach to proposal, negotiation, and close.
Develop and execute a strategic territory plan aligned with company revenue targets and market expansion goals.
Meet or exceed quarterly new revenue and volume targets for plastic and metal material streams.

Account Management & Client Relations

Build and maintain senior-level relationships with procurement, sustainability, operations, and facilities teams at target accounts.
Serve as the primary point of contact for key data center accounts, ensuring service satisfaction and identifying upsell or expansion opportunities.
Develop long-term supply agreements and preferred vendor partnerships with major data center operators.

Market & Industry Expertise

Maintain deep knowledge of data center hardware refresh trends, and infrastructure buildout activity.
Represent Pure Plastics & Metals at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to leadership to inform pricing strategy and service development.

Collaboration & Reporting

Partner with operations, facilities, and compliance teams to ensure seamless service delivery and regulatory adherence.
Maintain accurate records of pipeline, activity, and account history in Pipedrive (PP&M’s CRM).
Collaborate with Sales Manager to develop targeted campaigns, case studies, and collateral for the data center industry.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of B2B sales or business development experience, with at least 2 years selling into data centers, ITAD, or related technology infrastructure environments.
Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a commodity-based or industrial services environment.
Strong understanding of data center hardware lifecycle, decommissioning practices, and sustainability mandates.
Familiarity with plastic resin types (ABS, PC, HDPE, PP) and metal material streams (copper, aluminum, steel, PCB).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills at the executive level.
Proficiency with Pipedrive platform and Microsoft Office Suite.
Willingness to travel nationally.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in high security buildings, ITAD, or circular economy industries.
Existing relationships with hyperscale operators (AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle) or major colocation providers (Equinix, Digital Realty, NTT).
