Summary of responsibilities

Our Hospice Chaplin will provide nondenominational spiritual support and counseling to the hospice patient and their families at the patient’s home. The Chaplin will act as a spiritual liaison when collaborating with other disciplines including physicians, nursing, and other community resources to ensure complete quality care of the patient to enhance overall quality of life for those with a life-limiting illness. There are opportunities to grow this position to provide bereavement support groups and more. The Chaplin will utilize knowledge of patient's age, religious preferences, background, family requests, and cultural diversity the provision of spiritual care services. Our mission is to improve the quality of life through compassionate care. Our vision is to allow those that have hospice to remain independent as long as possible.

Qualifications

Hold a Masters of Divinity OR equivalent Graduate Degree from a nationally accredited Seminary or Theological school.
Be ordained, commissioned, or similarly recognized by their faith group to function in a ministry of pastoral care.
One (1) year experience in hospice/end of life care for the terminally ill patient and their family/ caregiver.
Ability to respond to the mental, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of the transitioning patient and their family/ caregiver during the stages of death, grief, and bereavement.
Access to a well working automobile for traveling to patient locations for provide care.
Licensed and insured driver with an automobile in good working order and the ability to drive in various weather to ensure reliability.
