Full Job Description

Truck Equipment Design Engineer: Dixon, IL

We are looking for a dedicated Truck Equipment Design Engineer to oversee the full lifecycle of custom truck equipment projects. By collaborating across Sales, Engineering, and Production departments, you will ensure that all technical specifications meet high standards for accuracy and operational efficiency. Your daily focus will involve managing equipment customization, drafting chassis layouts, creating hydraulic and electrical schematics, and driving process improvements that streamline manufacturing and installation.

Core Duties:

Oversee the entire project lifecycle for truck equipment applications, from initial conceptualization to final installation.
Produce and update 3D CAD models, technical blueprints, and comprehensive installation guides.
Perform chassis layout planning and weight distribution analysis to ensure seamless equipment integration.
Draft and manage all necessary hydraulic and electrical system schematics.
Provide expert technical support to installation crews to help resolve complex assembly challenges.
Facilitate technical alignment between Sales and Production teams to ensure project accuracy and design compatibility.
Refine and streamline workflows related to design, quoting, and installation to boost overall productivity.
Assist in the development of custom builds and prototype projects.
Implement modular design standards to help increase manufacturing efficiency for the entire production team.
Monitor evolving industry regulations and emerging technologies to keep our truck equipment and chassis systems at the forefront of the market.

Qualifications & Background:

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CAD Design, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
At least 3 years of professional experience within equipment design, truck body integration, or applications engineering is required.
Proficiency in interpreting and designing hydraulic and electrical systems is required, while knowledge of DOT or FMVSS standards is a plus.
Expertise in 3D CAD software is required, with a preference for candidates experienced in SolidWorks.
