Job Title: Inpatient Coder

Job Location: 100% Remote

Job Duration: 6+ months (Temp to Permanent)

Pay Range: $39.00 to $40.00/hour on W2.

Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 AM - 05:00 PM) CST Time

Job Description:

HIM Inpatient Coder - Strong academic, trauma and/or research university coding experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assigns ICD-10-CM-PCS and/or CPT-4 diagnostic and procedure codes to patient charts with accuracy and attention to detail
Abstracts selected data items and enters in 3M encoder/Epic software with accuracy and attention to detail
Completes UHDDS data abstraction as required
Maintains a log of work performed
Completes other assigned duties as directed by management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Abilities:

Ability to concentrate on task; minimizing distractions in private work-from-home space
Ability to apply local, state, and federal coding guidelines with attention to detail

Confirm candidate has access to an Encoder. 90 minute, 70 multiple choice question Assessment Test is required.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Please describe your recent inpatient facility coding experience. Which hospitals have you coded for, and were they academic medical centers, teaching hospitals, or Level I/II Trauma Centers? How many years of inpatient coding experience do you have?
Which coding certifications do you currently hold (CCS, RHIA, RHIT, etc.)? Are your certifications active, and can you provide the credential number if requested?
What coding systems and software have you used? Please specify your experience with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG assignment, Epic, 3M Encoder, TruCode, or other coding/encoder platforms. Do you currently have access to a coding encoder?
What types of inpatient cases have you coded most frequently (e.g., trauma, ICU, cardiac, oncology, transplant, neurosurgery, general medicine)? Approximately how many inpatient charts do you code per day while maintaining quality and productivity standards?
This position requires successfully completing a 90-minute assessment consisting of 70 multiple-choice coding questions. Are you comfortable taking this assessment, and are you able to work independently in a distraction-free home office while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations?
