· Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree

· 4 - 7 years post-graduate training – internship, residency and fellowship training specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation required. Additional fellowship training in pain management or experience preferred.

· Successful completion of United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA)

Full Job Description

Guam Radiology Consultants is a multi-specialty practice that provides advanced interventional pain management treatment to a variety of patients, including the island’s active duty and retired military communities, and assists them in restoring optimal physical function in order to improve their quality of life. We support all the major hospitals in our region. Our Pain Management Services operate during regular clinic hours from: 8AM – 5PM, Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a full time Pain Management Physician who specializes in spine and musculoskeletal interventions to join our team. Known for our warm and hospitable community, Guam is the crown jewel of the Mariana Islands nestled in the Western Pacific. With a robust tourism industry that offers peaceful, white-sanded beaches, world-famous dive sites, and other outdoor and ocean-based activities. Guam is home to a thriving, diverse local community with Air Force and Naval military installations.

JOB TITLE: Physician – Interventional Pain Management

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Permanent Employee

JOB SUMMARY:

Practice pain medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing and in accordance with the current standard of care. The physician is organizationally and administratively responsible for the managing of patients suffering from acute or chronic pain, or pain in patients requiring palliative care, postoperative pain or conditions in which pain is a primary problem, such as neuropathic pains and headaches.

We perform the full suite of pain management interventions in our clinic with the use of ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and live CT fluoroscopy guidance. Procedures performed include epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve root blocks, facet injections, musculoskeletal steroid and hyaluronic acid injections, sacroiliac joint steroid injections, and spinal cord stimulator implants, among others.

Highly skilled clinicians see the majority of our patients in consultation and follow-up, so the position is primarily procedural. Our technicians are highly experienced, and the majority of diagnostic imaging is done on site, where diagnostic radiologists with fellowship training in musculoskeletal radiology and neuroradiology are available for consultation when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Evaluate patients for medical concerns (i.e. injury, disease, chronic pain or a disabling condition).
Determine and order appropriate diagnostic radiology exams.
Determine and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients.
Refer patients to interventional radiology consultation when needed for arterial or vascular and other diseases.
Recommend and undertake various minimally invasion procedures, such as epidural steroid injections and musculoskeletal steroid injections.
Coordinate treatment with a team of medical professionals in order to optimize patient care.
Monitor ongoing progress and health of patients, and changes treatment plans as necessary.
Provide adaptive tools to improve the overall health and physical functioning of patients.
Counsel patients and their families and help them adapt to lifestyle changes.
Provide support and advice to patients receiving long-term care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

EXPERIENCE & SPECIFICATION:

Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of different types of rehabilitation treatments and programs for different disabilities. Exceptional attention to detail. Outstanding hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Professional and warm bedside manner. Excellent communicator who can empathize with patients. Must possess strong customer service skills, be proficient in use of PC and Windows OS, PACS, familiar with Medical Terminology, CPT Coding, able to communicate in a professional manner. Should be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be familiar with all equipment and processes needed to complete duties.
