Salary Range: $32.00 - $36.00 hourly
Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, specialized skills, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.

About the Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Manager of Professional Audit and Education, the Coding Audit Educator will create and perform essential training and education to assist CodingAID and our Clients. They will act as a coding expert resource and provide clarification on coding and compliance policies when requested. They will perform high level coding audits for both internal staff and Clients.

What You’ll Do

Provide educational training sessions for both clients and internal staff.

Perform research and create high quality, accurate training materials.

Meet clients expected turn-around times for completing work.

Meet internal expected turn-around times for completing work.

Must be able to meet the minimum audit productivity standards.
- Must meet or exceed 95% accuracy rate on quality reviews.
- Provide group and/or 1:1 training to clients as directed.
- Provide group and/or 1:1 training to CodingAID coders and auditors as directed.

Provide education and training on the results of internal and external audits.

Create and present education remote webinars and/or onsite training events for marketing purposes

Create training education materials as instructed.

Responsible for performing daily activities related to education and training. This may include regular meetings with the Manager of Coding, Audit and Education, client communication, scheduling and tracking of education sessions.
- Serves as an organization expert resource for documentation and coding guidelines.

Provides clarification on coding and compliance policies as requested.
- Maintains current knowledge of coding principles and guidelines.

Monitors and analyzes current industry trends and issues for potential organizational and client impact.

Expands education services to benefit our Clients and CodingAID coding operations.
- Assists in developing and implementing coding education for CodingAID new hires.

Responds to coding questions as assigned and provides official coding references and guidelines.

Help develop and maintain Coding program policies and procedure.

Perform coding audits as requested on CodingAID coders and/or Client providers/coders.
- Audit all E/M, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, units from the medical record documentation.
- Enter audit data into audit software or other audit report.
- Evaluate the overall quality of physician documentation for quality improvement measures.
- Perform accurate coding using applicable guidelines and client protocols.

Communicate with client and/or providers as needed (i.e. coding clarification, missing documentation, etc.)
- Provide written feedback of audit results in the form of chart level comments, summary findings and recommendations.

Communicate with Project Manager as needed (i.e. schedule changes, daily assignments/work volume, coding questions, etc.).
- Responsible for performing daily activities related to auditing.

Assists the department as needed with high level client projects such as reporting, consulting projects, hotline questions and complex research.

Comply with policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which includes accessing and using protected health information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and standards related to health information and coding principles.
- Act as a resource and subject matter expert to the sales and marketing department to identify and create content to increase client opportunities. This includes webinars, webbies, white papers and case studies.

Track and enter time accurately and timely into our timekeeping system.

What You’ll Bring
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) from the American Health Information Management Associations (AHIMA) required.
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) from AAPC highly recommended.
- Certified Professional Coder-Instructor (CPC-I) from AAPC highly recommended.
- Minimum five to seven (5-7) years of coding experience.
- Minimum three - five (3-5) years of physician (professional) education experience.
- Minimum of three – five (3-5) years of auditing experience.
- Experienced multi-specialty coding experience including E/M, surgeries and diagnostic testing performed in the clinic and hospital setting.
- Experienced educator for live or recorded training events
- Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation skills and strong writing skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Expert knowledge as it relates to, but not limited to, electronic health record, health information systems and healthcare applications and their effects on Coding practices today and in the future.
- Expert knowledge of profession fee codes including ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS, E/M and modifiers.
- Knowledge of documentation regulations of Joint Commission and CMS.
- Expert knowledge of medical terminology, classifications systems and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, laws, access and release of information practices.
- Experience in assisting and identifying learning needs as well as providing education and training designed to support a learning organization.
