Our large family-owned client is a top-of-the-line manufacturer of metal components and has been around for 40 + years. Commodity Manager (1st Shift)
Location: Grafton, WI
Direct Hire
Position Summary
The Commodity Manager reports to the Director of Strategic Procurement and is responsible for developing and executing commodity sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance. This role requires a strong understanding of metallurgy, metal chemistry, and manufacturing processes, along with expertise in supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, purchasing management, and quality management. You would be responsible for managing and purchasing raw steel materials.

Key Responsibilities
* Monitor commodity market trends to identify opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
* Develop and implement commodity strategies that reduce costs while ensuring quality and continuity of supply.
* Track, analyze, and report key procurement and supplier performance metrics.
* Build, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with commodity suppliers.
* Negotiate contracts and favorable commercial terms with vendors.
Drive supplier quality improvements and resolve material quality concerns.
* Partner with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Estimating, and Sales to support business objectives.
* Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal quality procedures.
* Provide guidance and training on commodity strategies across the organization.
* Manage supplier corrective actions, including material rejections and issue resolution.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
* Minimum of 5 years of commodity management or strategic purchasing experience.
* At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of metals, metallurgy, and their impact on manufacturing processes.
* Experience with supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, and contract management.
* Solid understanding of quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
