We are seeking a skilled Contract Accountant to join our remote team and support our growing client portfolio.

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our financial data, streamline accounting operations, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in corporate accounting, financial systems, and data analysis within a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
Conduct monthly general ledger reconciliations and assist with month-end closing activities.
Support internal controls by adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements and assisting with audit preparations.
Utilize Excel data analysis skills to generate reports, perform variance analysis, and support budgeting efforts.
Assist with payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian while ensuring timely processing of payroll data.
Handle confidential financial information with integrity while maintaining high standards of accuracy and numeracy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
Proven experience in accounting roles with strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.
Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation.
Strong technical accounting skills with experience in SOX compliance and internal controls.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel—for data entry, spreadsheet management, and financial analysis.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
Effective communication skills coupled with customer service orientation for collaborating across teams.
