This role is 100% focused on Guidewire RADAR rating. The RADAR Rating Expert is responsible for designing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining complex factor‑based rating solutions within the Guidewire ecosystem.
The role requires deep, hands-on RADAR expertise, proven production experience with rate tables and factor models, and direct integration with Guidewire PolicyCenter.
This position supports accurate premium calculation, regulatory compliance, and product profitability.
Candidates without significant, hands-on RADAR rating experience will not be considered.
Core Responsibilities (Mandatory and Non‑Negotiable)
1. RADAR Rating Design and Configuration
Design, configure, and maintain RADAR rating models in production environments.
Build and manage RADAR algorithms, routines, and calculation logic.
Implement factor‑based pricing models, including:
Limits
Deductibles
Coverage options
Underwriting attributes
Manage rate versioning, effective dating, and rate change history within RADAR.
Support frequent rate changes while maintaining performance, accuracy, and auditability.
2. Rate Tables and Rating Factor Management
Create, configure, and maintain RADAR rate tables, including:
Base rates
Modifiers
Multipliers
Tiered pricing structures
Configure and manage rating factors, including:
Territory
Risk characteristics
Coverage attributes
Underwriting criteria
Perform impact analysis for all rate table and factor changes.
Execute and support testing, validation, and reconciliation of rating logic.
Manage rate rollouts, rate revisions, and retirement of obsolete logic.
3. PolicyCenter Integration (Mandatory)
Integrate RADAR rating with Guidewire PolicyCenter for:

Bind
Endorsement
Renewal workflows
Ensure full alignment between:
RADAR rating logic
PolicyCenter product model configurations
Coverage definitions and terms
Work directly with PolicyCenter teams to:
Identify required data elements
Expose rating inputs
Return rating outputs correctly
4. Coverage and Underwriting Rating Support
Implement rating logic for:
Coverage changes
Deductible changes
Limit changes
Optional coverages
Align rating logic with:
Underwriting rules
Underwriting issue creation, updates, and retirement
Ensure all rating changes accurately reflect approved actuarial and underwriting intent.
5. Validation, Error Handling, and Quality Assurance
Design and implement strict validation rules within RADAR.
Implement error‑handling mechanisms to prevent:
Incomplete rating
Invalid input usage
Incorrect premium calculation
Troubleshoot and resolve:
Rating discrepancies
Premium mismatches
Environment‑specific rating issues
Perform root‑cause analysis for rating defects related to:
Rate tables
Rating factors
Algorithm logic
6. Forms, UI, and Data Dependencies
Coordinate with forms and documents teams to ensure rated premiums and values are correctly reflected on:
Policy documents
Declarations
Endorsements
Support UI and data model changes required to:
Capture rating inputs
Display calculated premiums
Ensure end‑to‑end rating data consistency across systems.
7. Line of Business Expertise
Deliver rating solutions across multiple lines of business.
Hands-on experience with Personal Property line of business rating models is REQUIRED.
Proven experience with factor‑based rating approaches at scale.
8. Collaboration and Technical Leadership
Work directly with:
Product Owners
Actuarial teams
Underwriting SMEs
Technical delivery teams
Provide technical leadership on:
RADAR factor modeling
Rate table design
Rating best practices
Participate in:
Design sessions
Code reviews
Knowledge transfer and documentation
Required Skills and Experience (ALL MANDATORY)
Candidates must meet every requirement below.
Guidewire and RADAR Expertise
Minimum 10 years of Guidewire experience, with significant production focus on RADAR.
Deep, hands-on RADAR experience, including:
Rate tables
Factor‑based rating models
Algorithms and routines
Performance optimization
Versioned rate management
Proven experience integrating RADAR with Guidewire PolicyCenter.
Insurance and Rating Domain Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
Insurance pricing concepts
Rating structures
Regulatory and compliance constraints
Demonstrated ability to:
Analyze and resolve complex rating issues
Perform impact analysis for pricing changes
Maintain rating integrity across environments
Education
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
Computer Science
Engineering
Mathematics
Actuarial Science
OR equivalent professional experience explicitly aligned with Guidewire RADAR rating.
Disqualification Criteria (Automatic Rejection)
Candidates will not be considered if they:
Lack hands-on production RADAR rating experience
Have only PolicyCenter or configuration experience without RADAR
Have actuarial or pricing experience without RADAR implementation
Have Guidewire experience but no rate tables or factor modeling ownership
