Full Job Description

Sen Plex Corporation, one of Hawaii’s Top 250 businesses, is looking for a skilled Controller (Construction) who embraces the complexity of the construction industry and has the proven ability to successfully perform the accounting functions for the business.

Sen Plex Corporation is a family owned and operated mechanical contracting company proudly serving commercial customers throughout the state of Hawaii. Established in 1945, Sen Plex Corporation and its subsidiaries Oahu Plumbing & Sheet Metal, Ltd, Oahu Air Conditioning Company and Oahu Air Conditioning Service, Inc. have earned the reputation of delivering high quality products and service. Our contracting division has experience with small to large scale construction and renovation projects and offers expertise from plan and spec to design build. Our air conditioning service division offers new equipment installation and replacement, preventive maintenance, indoor air quality duct cleaning, and 24-hour emergency service. With offices across the islands, we are available to serve commercial customers statewide.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing the accounting department including initiating new processes and procedures aimed at creating efficiency
Oversee all aspects of accounts payables, accounts receivables, and closely monitor cash functions
Ensure payroll is accurately processed and all related reporting and compliance requirements are met
Ensure proper job cost reporting of transactions, prepare quarterly job closing and related journal entries
Prepare and analyze Work-In-Process reports
Perform month-end closing, including analysis of operation costs and results
Issue monthly financial statements, perform analytical review to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
Prepare quarterly reports for financial institutions and Board of Directors
Prepare annual budget
Coordinate annual review by independent auditors
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned

Qualifications we look for:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
8 - 10+ years of complex, progressive accounting experience, including construction accounting
Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Exceptional work ethic, strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Advanced decision making, analytical and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of Timberline software desirable
Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization and a desire to manage personnel
Demonstrated knowledge with Microsoft Office products – highly skilled in Excel including spreadsheets, pivot table and other key excel functions
Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to work in Honolulu, Hawaii
