Full Job Description

Arch Street Preschool is preparing for a thoughtful reopening and is seeking a part-time Consulting Director to help guide the next phase of planning. This consultant will help turn the preschool’s reopening vision into a detailed and actionable plan, including a three-year budget, revenue strategy, curriculum and staffing model, licensing preparation, operating procedures, and phased community programming.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST RESIDE IN THE PHILADELPHIA AREA.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a detailed preschool reopening plan in partnership with the Board of Directors.
Create or support a three-year budget and revenue model.
Help design a staffing structure appropriate for a phased reopening.
Advise on curriculum, classroom structure, and program design.
Support preparation for licensing applications, inspections, and compliance requirements.
Coordinate with administrative consultants to ensure policies, procedures, and operational systems are in place.
Gather input from families and caregivers to better understand community needs.
Help evaluate which early programs may be mission-aligned and potentially revenue-generating.
Attend periodic board or committee meetings and provide written updates, recommendations, and planning documents.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced early childhood education leader, former preschool director, childcare consultant, nonprofit education professional, or school operations specialist who understands both the mission and practical realities of opening or operating a preschool.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in early childhood education, preschool administration, childcare licensing, or school operations.
Familiarity with Pennsylvania childcare licensing and inspection requirements.
Experience with budgeting, enrollment planning, staffing models, or revenue forecasting.
Strong understanding of preschool curriculum and early childhood best practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with a nonprofit board, church leadership, consultants, and community partners.
Strong project management, communication, and planning skills.
Experience with program launches, reopening efforts, or organizational transitions is a plus.

Work Arrangement

This is a part-time, contract-based consulting role for approximately 6 months. The schedule is flexible, with some on-site work in Philadelphia required. Some evening availability may be needed for board or committee meetings.

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and final scope of work. The anticipated engagement is supported by a proposed one-year consulting budget.

Pay: $6,000.00 - $8,000.00 per month
