Staff Accountant I
Full-Time · Hybrid, 3 days/week in Roseville, CA
A Little Spice Goes a Long Way
Paprika Partners is a boutique financial firm built for a new generation of business owners. The ambitious owner-operators, the diverse founders, and the unconventional builders who deserve the same quality of financial partnership as the big guys. We provide bookkeeping, accounting, advisory, and fractional CFO services for businesses ranging from $2M–$20M in revenue.
We're not a corporate shop. We move fast, we think in systems, we geek out on AI and technology, and we show up as real human beings who genuinely care whether our clients win. Our team is small, deeply collaborative, and building something we're all proud of. Now we're looking for someone who wants to be part of that.
The Role
As a Staff Accountant I at Paprika Partners, you'll be an important part of the engine that keeps our clients' finances running smoothly. You'll sit directly under our Senior Accounting Manager, supporting a portfolio of owner-operated businesses with the day-to-day accounting work that everything else depends on: Clean reconciliations, organized AP, and reliable reporting that our Accounting Managers and Controllers can build on.
This is a great seat for someone early in their career who wants real exposure across a diverse client base, mentorship from experienced accounting professionals, and the chance to grow quickly in an environment that rewards initiative. No two days look exactly the same, and that's kind of the point.
This is a full-time hybrid role: 3 days per week in our Roseville, CA office with flexibility the rest of the week.
What You'll Do
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple client accounts
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time
- Assist with month-end close procedures and journal entry preparation
- Build and maintain lightweight reports and schedules to support the Accounting Manager and Controllers
- Maintain organized, well-documented workpapers for each client
- Download and properly store client statements, documents, and financial materials in our file management system
- Keep client files organized, up to date, and easy for the team to navigate
- Support the maintenance and organization of our work management tool (Karbon): keeping tasks, deadlines, and workflows clean and current
- Learn the flow of work across the team and develop a strong understanding of how accounting, advisory, and bookkeeping functions connect
- Flag discrepancies and open items proactively rather than waiting to be asked
- Collaborate with bookkeepers, accounting managers, and the broader Paprika team to keep client accounts running smoothly
- Leverage QuickBooks and Excel to manage and organize financial data efficiently
What We're Looking For
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, whether in public accounting, a private company, or a fractional/outsourced finance environment
- QuickBooks proficiency, required
- Solid Excel skills, required
- Working knowledge of AP/AR, reconciliations, and basic financial reporting
- Highly organized. You take file management and administrative follow-through as seriously as the accounting work itself
- Detail-oriented and organized. You take pride in clean work and don't let things slip
- Eager to learn and receptive to feedback. You're early in your career and you know it, and you're excited about that
- Comfortable working across multiple client accounts simultaneously
- Collaborative and communicative. You keep your team informed and ask questions when you're unsure
- Tech-forward mindset. You embrace tools that make the work smarter
What Success Looks Like
- Reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule every month
- AP and AR are processed cleanly with no dropped items or timing issues
- Client files and statements are organized, stored properly, and easy for anyone on the team to find
- Workpapers are organized and ready for the accounting manager to review without rework
- You're proactively flagging issues rather than waiting to be asked
- You're growing. asking better questions, taking on more, and becoming someone the team relies on
