Full Job Description

Position Summary

Join us in an exciting and rewarding role as an Accounting Manager/Operations Manager in the wine industry! We are an established and expanding company in the wine industry, dedicated to producing exceptional wines with multiple wine tasting locations. Our company is looking for a seasoned professional who has a passion for accounting, finance and management in the wine industry.

This is a permanent, full-time position that requires the candidate to work onsite. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial analysis, cost accounting, general ledger, production costs, federal and state excise taxes across multiple entities, and compliance for multiple locations. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and performing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, in a business environment with staff. This role is highly hands-on and requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple responsibilities while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. The Accounting Manager works closely with ownership and leadership to provide timely financial information, support budgeting and forecasting, and help guide sound business decisions.

In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business, the Operations Manager will play a key leadership role in shaping the long-term vision and growth of the wineries as a premier hospitality, event, and wine destination. Working alongside an exceptional team, the Operations Manager will foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation while ensuring outstanding guest experiences and driving the continued success and reputation of the wineries.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Manager

Complete purchase orders, accounts payable, and general ledger activities.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly closing schedules.
Oversee credit card reconciliations.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Monitor cash flow and assist with liquidity planning.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Maintain appropriate internal controls for a business environment.
Coordinate with internal & external CPA for tax preparation and annual reviews.
Support audits and regulatory filings and support bank reporting requirements.

Operations Manager

Oversee the business operations through multiple systems: Toast POS, Commerce 7, QuickBooks, Excel, winery management platforms, event management systems, wine club platforms
Work closely with the Owners to manage operational budgets, forecasting, labor controls, and cost management
Oversee inventory controls, POS systems, reporting systems and operations audits
Implement and maintain SOPs, operational policies and compliance standards
Maintain and manage all required federal, state and local permits and licenses, including those issued by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission (TABC)
Preparation, filing, and payment of Federal Excise Tax reports, and California sales and use tax filings with Director of Finance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
2 - 5 years of compliance, regulatory, accounting, or operations experience in a regulatory business (alcohol beverage industry preferred)
Proven experience managing multi-department operations and high-volume hospitality environments
Strong financial management and operational planning experience
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency with accounting systems, winery POS systems, QuickBooks, Commerce 7, Excel and overall financial integration between platforms
Ability to manage deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Clear communication skills and ability to interact with non-financial team members.
Supervisory experience a plus but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary based on experience. Range of $85,000 to 100,000 annually.
