Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper to oversee the financial operations of our business. This hands-on leadership role combines strategic financial oversight with day-to-day accounting responsibilities. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, provide meaningful financial insight to leadership, supervise bookkeeping functions, and partner with our CPA to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Financial Leadership

· Oversee all accounting and bookkeeping functions.

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

· Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

· Provide financial highlights, KPI reporting, and decision-support analysis.

· Partner with ownership on financial planning and business strategy.

· Coordinate year-end activities with the company's CPA.

Accounting Operations

· Maintain the general ledger and QuickBooks.

· Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and reconciliations.

· Oversee payroll and assist with third-party payroll implementation.

· Ensure accurate month-end and year-end close.

· Maintain supporting schedules and audit-ready records.

Leadership & Process Improvement

· Supervise and mentor a junior bookkeeper.

· Design and improve accounting workflows and internal controls.

· Identify risks and recommend practical improvements.

· Document accounting procedures and maintain consistency.

Business Snapshot

· Industry: Import, Export and Sales

· Location: Ocala, Florida

· Approximately 70-100 accounting transactions per month with expected growth

· Employees and independent contractors

· Inventory expected as the business expands

Qualifications

· 5+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience.

· Previous Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or Senior Bookkeeper experience preferred.

· Advanced QuickBooks proficiency.

· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, payroll, A/P, A/R, and reconciliations.

· Experience developing internal controls and improving accounting processes.

· Experience working directly with outside CPAs.

· Experience implementing or transitioning accounting/payroll systems is a plus.

· Bookkeeping or accounting certification preferred but not required.

· Manufacturing, food processing, wholesale, or distribution experience is desirable.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

· Gain a thorough understanding of company operations and accounting processes.

· Ensure all financial records are current and accurate.

· Establish a reliable month-end close process.

· Implement improvements to accounting workflows and internal controls.

· Successfully onboard the third-party payroll system.

· Develop a productive working relationship with leadership, the CPA, and the junior bookkeeper.

Communication & Expectations

· Provide weekly financial summaries.

· Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions.

· Communicate effectively through email, phone, text, and meetings.

· Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.

Confidentiality

The selected candidate will be required to sign a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and will have access to sensitive company financial information.

Work Location

Hybrid remote in Ocala, FL 34474. Regular in-office attendance is required.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
