Who we are

Salt & Serif is a strategy-first creative studio. We work with growth-stage B2B companies in ag, technology, biotech, construction, and manufacturing. We work with brands with real complexity and real stakes, not startups chasing a logo refresh.

Our belief: brands have clarity problems, not creativity problems. We call it clarity before creative. It's why our clients keep us around, and it's the filter everything we make has to pass through.

AI can produce average work all day long. It pulls from the mean. We exist for the brands that refuse to be average, and that takes a real point of view, not a prompt.

The role

We're hiring an Associate Creative Director with a copywriter's brain: someone who can write the work and help direct the thinking behind it. You'll report to our CEO and Executive Creative Director, work alongside our design and studio team, and function as the second strong point of view in the room, not an extra pair of hands.

This is a hands-on role. You'll write. You'll also push back when the safe idea is winning over the smart one.

What you'll actually do

Write and direct copy across positioning, campaigns, web, and client deliverables for B2B clients in industries most agencies don't bother to understand.

Partner with our design system (we call it Visual Grammar) so the words and the visual logic are built together, not stapled together after the fact.

Own creative quality on your work end to end. You're not executing someone else's brief, you're shaping it.

Sit in client rooms with CMOs and marketing directors and hold your own.

Help set the bar for what "on brand" means as we bring on more writers and creatives.

What you need to bring

Agency experience. This role assumes you've worked at the pace and standard of an agency, not just in-house.

Roughly 6+ years as a copywriter, several of them sharpened in an agency environment. We care more about the work than the number.

A portfolio that proves range on complex subject matter, not just clever headlines for consumer brands. Show us you can make an industrial equipment company or a biotech firm sound clear and human.

Based in or near Sioux Falls, with real flexibility for hybrid work, but able to be in-studio regularly. This isn't a fully remote seat.

Who thrives here

You don't wait to be handed direction. You show up with an opinion, back it with reasoning, and can defend it in the room without getting precious about it.

You're allergic to buzzwords, empty taglines, and safe-but-forgettable copy.

You've been the person at your agency who said the thing everyone else was thinking but wouldn't say out loud.

You want ownership, not a lane. You want to build something, not maintain something.

Compensation & details

$75,000-$85,000 base, based on experience.
Full-time.
Hybrid schedule, Sioux Falls-based.
401(k) program.
