Position Overview

La’Aurora is seeking a passionate and motivated Live Audio Engineer / Sound Board Engineer Internto support live performances, rehearsals, showcases, theater productions, community events, and youth programs. This internship is ideal for someone interested in live sound engineering, sound board operation, live vocal mixing, and event production.

Interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside performers, instructors, choreographers, and production staff while learning how to create professional-quality live audio experiences. Outstanding interns may be offered paid opportunities within 6–12 months, depending on performance, organizational growth, and funding.

Key Responsibilities

Set up, test, operate, and break down professional live sound systems for rehearsals, performances, showcases, theater productions, festivals, and community events.
Operate digital and analog mixing consoles during live productions.
Mix live vocals for singers, rappers, spoken-word artists, theater performers, presenters, and live musicians.
Balance vocal levels with instrumental tracks, live bands, DJs, and backing tracks to achieve clear, professional sound.
Conduct sound checks and adjust EQ, gain structure, compression, reverb, monitors, and microphone levels.
Monitor sound quality throughout performances and make real-time adjustments.
Troubleshoot microphones, wireless systems, speakers, monitors, mixers, and other audio equipment before and during events.
Assist with stage setup, cable management, speaker placement, and equipment maintenance.
Collaborate with performers, directors, choreographers, videographers, and production staff to deliver exceptional productions.
Help maintain, organize, and care for all audio equipment.
Support youth showcases and mentor students interested in live audio engineering and event production.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a professional production environment.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of live sound systems and audio equipment.
Interest in live sound engineering, music production, theater, concerts, dance, or event production.
Strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced production environment.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Reliable, organized, professional, and punctual.
Passion for youth development, mentorship, and community impact.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating digital or analog mixing consoles.
Experience with live sound reinforcement and live vocal mixing.
Familiarity with mixers such as Behringer X32, Midas, Yamaha, Allen & Heath, or similar consoles.
Understanding of EQ, compression, signal flow, monitor mixing, feedback elimination, and audio troubleshooting.
Experience supporting concerts, theater productions, churches, schools, festivals, or community events.
Knowledge of wireless microphone systems and stage monitoring.
Interest in recording, podcasting, music production, film, or audiovisual technology.
