Full Job Description

Purpose:

The Hub Coordinator will promote the smooth operation of the Math Circles of Chicago Hub sites, communicating with families, supporting and supervising teachers, site coordinators, and high school assistants, while collaborating with Math Circles of Chicago (MC2) staff.

This position is hybrid, working from home, regular trips to MC2 Hubs on Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursdays, along with working at MC2’s offices twice a week.

Job Overview:

The Hub Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, 40-hours-per-week position, with an anticipated start in summer or fall 2026. The role is hybrid, typically including two days per week in the office and the remainder remote.

During the fall and winter Hub season (approximately 16 weeks per year), the workweek will run Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday, depending on Hub needs. During the spring and summer months, the schedule will shift to a Monday–Friday workweek.

The Hub Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting MC2 educators to implement math circles in ways that are engaging, joyful, and foster a strong sense of belonging for all students. The role combines responsibilities in program administration, teacher coaching and supervision, and family engagement. The Hub Coordinator will work closely with Site Coordinators and the Professional Learning Coach Coordinator to ensure instructional quality and consistency across all Hub locations.They will also partner with the Professional Learning Coach Coordinator on teacher development and pedagogy and with the High School Program Manager and Curriculum Specialist to develop a deep knowledge of our curriculum and help in its continued improvement.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in mathematics education and instructional coaching, along with exceptional organizational skills. The role requires travel to MC2’s seven Hub locations during program hours, as well as independent completion of administrative responsibilities within established timelines.

Responsibilities and duties:

Program Staffing and Operations (20%)

Coordinate teacher hiring, scheduling, and assignments across fall, winter, and summer cycles, incorporating teacher preferences and program needs.
Manage teacher recruitment and placement, including vetting candidates, determining eligibility, and assigning instructional roles.
Oversee teacher communications related to assignments, including scheduling updates, cancellations, and substitutions.
Manage registration and enrollment processes using the MC2 database, including term setup, admissions lottery, and fee tracking.
Supervise and support site coordinators in managing site-based logistics, staffing, and instructional materials.

Family Engagement and Communications (20%)

Send timely Hub-specific communications to families prior to each session, including schedules, reminders, and MC2 updates.
Maintain and update Hub family email lists in collaboration with the Operations Assistant.
Serve as a liaison between site coordinators, MC2 staff, and families to support student needs, including accommodations, allergies, and behavior-related concerns.
Partner with the Executive Director and Operations Assistant to support strategies for student recruitment, good attendance, and retention across Hub programs.
Facilitate family engagement through Hub-based parent meetings each term.

Coaching and Professional Learning (40%)

Provide coaching and mentoring to lead teachers through Hub visits, observations, feedback, and individualized support, with an emphasis on novice teachers and graduate students new to classroom instruction.
Manage and support a network of MC2 coaches across Hub locations.
Serve as a liaison between site coordinators and MC2 staff to support assistant teachers, including undergraduate and graduate students and High School Assistants.
Support documentation of teacher professional learning and educator engagement requirements.

Program Level Leadership and Curriculum Improvement (20%)

Develop deep understanding of MC2 curriculum levels and lesson plans, including collaborating on the review and revision of instructional materials.
Lead online curricular workshops for hub teachers on lesson plans for a program level.
Synthesize insights from observations to inform recommendations for professional learning opportunities and workshops.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, track, and analyze teacher engagement and program data to support continuous improvement.
Effective collaborator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships across teams and stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated ability to coach teachers with empathy, professionalism, and respect for diverse teaching styles and experiences.
Skilled facilitator and presenter in both in-person and virtual settings, including the use of collaborative technologies, virtual manipulatives, and interactive workshop tools.
Demonstrates ownership and accountability by following through on commitments, managing time effectively, and producing high-quality work.
Clear and responsive communicator across in-person and virtual environments, using collaboration and project management tools (e.g., Asana) to maintain alignment, coordinate work, and ensure consistent communication of priorities, progress, and deliverables in a hybrid setting.
Responds flexibly to change and proactively supports evolving organizational needs, consistently seeking opportunities to advance the mission in service of students and teachers.

Qualifications:

3+ years of mathematics teaching in grades 6-12.
Experience serving BIPOC communities with the ability to articulate how learning about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has impacted their work as an educator.
An undergraduate degree in a math related field and/or in education.

Desired

Professional capacity to speak and write in Spanish
Experience with math problem solving, through math circles, math competitions, other math enrichment programs, and/or advanced math coursework.
