D L ENGLISH DESIGN

Title: Millwork Engineer / Draftsman

Field: Retail Store Fixtures, Signage and Décor – Design, Manufacturing, and Installation

Start date: Immediate

Salary: Based on related training and/or experience

Job Description:

Candidate must be a highly motivated self starter who has a passion for engineering and design. This position will offer unique and complex engineering challenges that require persistence, original thinking and a positive attitude.

This position will require the candidate to perform in all aspects of including design engineering, 3D modeling, production drawing creation, materials and component selection, reverse engineering, and assistance with job costing.

Shop Drawings: Your shop drawings should be accurate and clear. They should show every detail needed for fabrication including material, appliance, fixture, and hardware specifications. Willingness to learn shop order drawing for décor and signage, including art preparation.

Installation plans: Installation drawings to include details on location, mounting method, and coordination as needed with adjoining trades.

Provide engineering expertise, 3D models, manufacturing documents, take-offs, and cost research for the manufacture of retail store fixtures and signage.

Assist in the streamlining and improvement of process documentation practices.

Candidate may need to travel locally using their own vehicle to visit clients and vendors as directed.

Qualifications:

Mechanical engineering degree required, or minimum 5 years experience in product design for the retail millwork industry.
Must have a strong working knowledge of current trends in retail fixture manufacturing including CNC processes, millwork materials, and cabinet hardware.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to read and understand construction plans and documents.
Ability to understand project timelines and plot project trajectories by creating and updating project schedules.
Must have strong skills in current AutoCAD versions, AutoCAD Fusion 360, and Sketchup.
Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as all in MS Office applications and have strong Excel skills.
Must have own vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.

Company Description:

Primary business is retail store planning, construction design and specifying, and interior design including fixtures and signage. Post design includes prototypical manufacturing documents, site installation documents, product catalog management, as well as manufacturing and installation of the products designed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
