Full Job Description

A Diagnostic Imaging Service Engineer ensures that imaging systems are functioning safely and effectively to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Their work is critical to patient care and clinical operations.

Common Equipment They Work On

X-ray machines
CT (Computed Tomography) scanners
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) systems
Ultrasound machines
Fluoroscopy units
Mammography equipment
Nuclear medicine imaging systems (e.g., PET scanners)

Responsibilities
1. Installation & Commissioning

Set up and configure new imaging equipment.
Perform acceptance testing and calibration.

2. Preventive Maintenance

Schedule and conduct routine inspections.
Calibrate machines to manufacturer and regulatory standards.

3. Troubleshooting & Repairs

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electronic, or software issues.
Replace defective components or modules.

4. Compliance & Documentation

Maintain logs and service records.
Ensure systems comply with local regulations (e.g., radiation safety laws).

5. User Support

Train and support radiologists, technologists, and staff on basic machine use and troubleshooting.

6. Vendor Coordination

Liaise with equipment manufacturers and third-party vendors for parts or advanced technical support.

Skills & Qualifications

Technical knowledge of medical imaging systems (electronics, software, networking).
Problem-solving skills and logical thinking.
Strong understanding of radiation safety and healthcare regulations.
Communication skills for working with clinical and technical staff.

Education & Certification

Degree/Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Entry Level
Certifications such as:
CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician)
OEM training (e.g., GE, Siemens, Philips, Canon)
AAMI Certification (US-specific)
Ongoing training in new technologies (e.g., digital imaging, PACS, AI diagnostics)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Ability to Commute:

Miami, FL 33134 (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:
