About us

CSMi designs, manufactures, and markets computerized muscle testing and exercise equipment. Our products are used throughout the world in hospitals, physical therapy clinics, athletic departments, and exercise physiology labs. We are a growing company in need of an experienced electro-mechanical engineer. This position will work cross-functionally with management, engineering, manufacturing, and service.

Job Description:

This role involves a combination of continuing manufacturing engineering and new product development on our HUMAC/NORM Muscle Testing and Exercise System. (Visit www.humacnorm.com to see the HUMAC/NORM).

Continuing Engineering:

Work with Manufacturing to identify and resolve product design and production issues.
Release design/process updates to manufacturing.
Support Purchasing on supply-chain issues, including investigating and qualifying alternative components.
Work with the service group, trending issues and using the data to drive product improvements.

Product Development:

Work with Management, Engineering, and Sales to define product development plans.
Design, prototype and troubleshoot new designs.
Construct test fixtures and perform life cycle and thermal testing.
Maintain documentation to ISO standards.
Work with external partners, including vendors and testing laboratories.

Design Areas:

This role involves all aspects of the machine design, including:

Metals (machining, casting, sheet metal forming).
Electrical (Motors, Servo Amplifiers, PCB assemblies, SMT processes, and wire subassemblies).
Plastics (Vacuum forming).
Upholstery.
Coatings (powder coat, anodizing, and hard coating).

Process Areas:

Design, validation and verification, manufacturing transfer.
Root cause analysis.
Lean manufacturing.
Assure adherence to CSMi’s ISO13485 ISO procedures through the design realization and product update processes.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
5 years’ experience, preferably with device commercialization and manufacturing.
Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
