Full Job Description

Summary:

The production planner is responsible for issuing and tracking job orders while ensuring that required material is supplied to the production floor in a timely fashion to support revenue goals. This position is responsible for expediting raw materials and prioritizing job orders before and during the manufacturing process and to actively participate in weekly production schedule meetings.

Qualifications/Skills:

· Positive communication across all departments to demonstrate an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation, both written and oral.

· Understands MRP software and can make good decisions based on the output.

· Minimum of 3 years in materials or inventory control in a complex manufacturing environment

· Microsoft Office skills necessary – specifically Excel

· APICS certification preferred, but not required

Responsibilities:

· Generates job orders and production paperwork.

· Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.

· Relies on experience and best judgment to plan job releases to accomplish high on-time delivery performance to customer orders.

· Analyzes MRP output and coordinates with supply chain department to ensure timely delivery of production materials.

· Supports intradepartmental requests for materials, including verifying material availability to support expedite requests.

· Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully to drive solution by finding root cause and correcting the issue.

· Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance.

· Interfaces with all departments as necessary to status materials and planning constraints.

· Participates in lean manufacturing/Kaizen events for process improvement.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typical of a manufacturing setting where hazardous materials may be present. Security investigations may be conducted to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and/or work areas.

The interviewing process includes completing an employment application and consent form to obtain background information.
