Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization in advancing integrated, person-centered behavioral healthcare services across South Central Alabama. This executive leadership role is responsible for the strategic, operational, clinical, and financial oversight of all Board-operated programs while ensuring alignment with CCBHC standards and requirements.
The Executive Director will champion SCAMHB’s mission by promoting access to high-quality mental health, substance use, and crisis services while fostering innovation, compliance, and community partnerships that strengthen the behavioral health continuum of care.
Qualifications:

Have at least a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field and at least five (5) years of managerial experience in a mental health or substance use treatment setting; OR

Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field and at least ten (10) years of managerial experience in a mental health or substance use treatment setting

Strong knowledge of CCBHC operations, behavioral health systems, Medicaid regulations, and integrated care models preferred

Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, financial oversight, and regulatory compliance

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and develop collaborative community partnerships

Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Experience leading a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) or similar integrated healthcare organization

Knowledge of value-based care, crisis systems, integrated healthcare delivery, and quality improvement initiatives

Experience working with federal and state grant funding opportunities
Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership, planning, organization, and oversight for all SCAMHB and CCBHC operations

Ensure compliance with CCBHC criteria, Alabama Department of Mental Health standards, Medicaid regulations, and all applicable federal and state requirements

Lead the organization in delivering integrated, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered services

Oversee operational, clinical, and financial performance to ensure quality outcomes and sustainability

Collaborate with leadership teams to implement organizational goals, quality improvement initiatives, and workforce development strategies

Foster strong partnerships with hospitals, schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders to improve access to behavioral healthcare services

Serve as liaison between the Board of Directors, staff, consumers, funding agencies, and community organizations

Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, compliance, and compassionate care

Supervise executive and administrative leadership staff across multidisciplinary service areas

Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources and long-term strategic growth
Must have Master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field and at least five (5) years of managerial experience in a mental health or substance use treatment setting; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field and at least ten (10) years of managerial experience in a mental health or substance use treatment setting; current driver’s license, eligibility for coverage under center liability insurance and individually held vehicle liability insurance and clear background check.
