Full Job Description

Position: Floating Chef
Reports To: Executive Chef

Position Summary:

The Floating Chef provides culinary leadership and hands-on kitchen support across multiple restaurant locations as needed. This role is responsible for maintaining food quality, consistency, and operational standards while filling in for staffing shortages, supporting openings, covering vacations or leaves, and assisting with training and execution during high-volume periods. Flexibility, adaptability, and strong culinary fundamentals are essential.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Support daily kitchen operations across assigned restaurant locations as scheduled or needed

Prepare, cook, and plate menu items in accordance with company recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines

Step in to cover key kitchen roles including Line Cook, Sous Chef, or Chef de Cuisine as required

Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation across all locations

Follow and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations

Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring kitchen staff to reinforce standards and best practices

Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workstations at all times

Communicate effectively with location leadership regarding staffing needs, food quality concerns, and operational challenges

Assist with inventory management, proper storage, labeling, and waste reduction when needed

Support new store openings, menu rollouts, seasonal changes, and special events as assigned

Adapt quickly to different kitchen layouts, menus, teams, and service styles

Qualifications:

Minimum 3–5 years of professional culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant environment

Previous experience as a Line Cook, Sous Chef, or Chef strongly preferred

Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced and changing environments

Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills

Ability to lead by example and maintain professionalism across all locations

Culinary degree or certificate preferred, but not required with equivalent experience

Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel between locations

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
