Full Job Description

Job Description: 2nd Shift Lead Laboratory Technologist

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
12+ months of experience in analyzing data, performing wet chemistry experiments, sample preparation, using laboratory instrumentation and equipment, and/or leadership.

Preferred:

Experience working with LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
Experience working with enzymatic immunoassay instrumentation.
Experience in analyzing data, performing wet chemistry experiments, sample preparation and using general laboratory equipment (e.g. pH meter, analytical pipettes, etc.).
2+ years of experience in a forensic toxicology laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General Technical Responsibilities

Responsible for the routine operation of production instrumentation, including chemistry analyzers, automated liquid handlers, LC-MS/MS, and GC-MS instrumentation.
Responsible for maintaining instrumentation through routine preventative maintenance and performance checks.
Responsible for troubleshooting instrumentation issues.
Responsible for delegating daily production responsibilities to team members.
Responsible for monitoring analytical backlogs, making informed decisions based on available information, and coordinating with neighboring departments, support staff, and supervisory teams to effectively manage daily workload.
Responsible for communicating and escalating delays and non-conforming events to the Production Manager.
Responsible for the training of new employees, including the documentation of training activities.
Responsible for managing general laboratory inventory and coordinating with the supervisor/production manager on bi-weekly ordering.
Participate in leading the weekly Analytical Team meetings, facilitating discussion and ensuring effective communication within the team.
Demonstrate close attention to detail in all responsibilities, including proper handling of controlled documents, chain of custody documentation, and adherence to good laboratory practices.

Professionalism

The Lead Technologist must follow the directions of the Production Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, and Laboratory Director.
Must adhere to all policies, including but not limited to scope of practice, attendance, confidentiality, dress code, and use of personal time.
Must follow all safety procedures.
Must be a team player and strive to create a positive work environment.
