Full Job Description

Purchasing Specialist

Location: Thermo King Distribution Center
Schedule: Hybrid – 4 days onsite (Monday–Thursday), 1 remote day
Training: First couple of weeks will be 100% onsite

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to support direct ship purchasing operations and supplier communications. In this role, you will be responsible for tracking and closing direct ship purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, updating shipping information in Oracle, and partnering with internal teams to ensure orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, an excellent communicator, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience OR
Associate's degree (or lower degree) with 2+ years of experience in purchasing, materials planning, materials coordination, supply chain, or a similar role requiring frequent communication with suppliers, customers, or cross-functional teams
Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
Strong data analysis skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience using Oracle, an ERP system, or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

Track and close direct ship purchase orders
Follow up with suppliers on order acknowledgements, estimated ship dates, shipping costs, and delivery status
Update Oracle with supplier shipping information
Analyze and process direct ship purchase orders placed on hold
Ensure suppliers follow freight instructions
Support resolution of supplier delivery issues
Communicate obsolete parts to the MDM team
Partner with Order Management, Material Planning, and Procurement teams
Support on-time shipping and supplier performance initiatives
Prepare and distribute purchasing documents, including tax exemption forms and other supplier communications
Support purchase order distribution and acknowledgements
Respond to customer and internal Order Management requests
Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned

Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Data analysis experience
Excellent communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Additional Information

Hybrid schedule after training: 4 days onsite (Monday–Thursday), 1 remote day
Initial training will be fully onsite for the first couple of weeks.
