FUND CONTROLLER

Job description

A private real estate investment firm focused on debt strategies is seeking a Fund Controller to oversee the financial operations and reporting of its funds. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

· Oversee the accounting records for investment funds and related special purpose entities (SPEs), including preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, performing account reconciliations, and resolving accounting variances.

· Monitor portfolio activity to ensure compliance with fund investment parameters, financing arrangements, and internal guidelines.

· Manage fund liquidity by forecasting cash needs, tracking capital availability, monitoring unfunded commitments, and overseeing borrowing capacity.

· Direct daily treasury operations, including cash positioning, wire transfers, payment processing, and vendor disbursements.

· Prepare and review fund allocation models, calculate investor distributions, analyze cash requirements, and provide recommendations for capital distributions.

· Coordinate capital activity, including investor contributions and distributions, while serving as a primary point of contact for related communications.

· Oversee third-party fund administrators by reviewing deliverables, supplying supporting documentation, and ensuring timely completion of reporting requirements.

· Review quarterly and annual financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.

· Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors and independent accounting firms throughout the engagement.

· Supervise external tax advisors in the preparation and filing of partnership tax returns, investor tax reporting, and Schedule K-1s.

· Ensure adherence to regulatory, financial reporting, and fund governance requirements, with all filings and reporting completed on schedule.

· Respond to investor inquiries regarding fund performance, financial results, accounting matters, and projected cash activity.

· Develop, enhance, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and operational procedures to support efficient fund administration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
Minimum 4 years of fund accounting experience

Compensation: $200,000/year plus annual bonus and benefits

Pay: $200,000.00 per year
