Live-In Innkeeper / Operations Manager

Pittsburgh, PA | Full-Time | Live-In Position

Lead the Operations of One of Pittsburgh's Premier Boutique Inns

The Inn on Negley, a luxury Victorian inn in the heart of Shadyside, is seeking an experienced Live-In Innkeeper / Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our property while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

This is a leadership position for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys a highly hands-on role. Working alongside the General Manager, you will lead daily guest operations, oversee housekeeping and breakfast service, maintain exceptional quality standards, and ensure every guest enjoys a memorable stay.

This is not a traditional management position. Our Innkeeper is actively involved in every aspect of the operation—from welcoming guests and serving breakfast to inspecting guest rooms, assisting with housekeeping, and supporting the team wherever needed.

If you have experience leading hotel, inn, or lodging operations and thrive in an environment where no two days are alike, we'd love to hear from you.

Required Qualifications

To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a hotel, boutique hotel, bed & breakfast, resort, or other lodging operation.
Experience supervising hospitality employees.
Experience with housekeeping operations and quality standards.
Strong guest service and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work independently while leading a small team.
Comfortable working weekends, evenings, and holidays as business demands.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform the physical duties associated with housekeeping, breakfast service, and daily inn operations.
Authorization to work in the United States.

Candidates without prior hospitality leadership experience will not be considered.

Boutique hotel or bed & breakfast experience
Hotel property management system (PMS) experience
Food & beverage experience
ServSafe Certification
Light maintenance knowledge
Passion for historic properties and personalized hospitality

What You'll Do

The Innkeeper serves as the operational leader of the property and plays an active role in every aspect of the guest experience.

Guest Experience

Welcome arriving guests and oversee departures.
Deliver exceptional hospitality through personalized service.
Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
Create memorable experiences that encourage repeat visits.

Housekeeping & Property Standards

Assist with cleaning guest rooms, bathrooms, and common areas as needed.
Complete room inspections and ensure exceptional cleanliness standards.
Assist with laundry and room preparation.
Maintain the appearance of the property inside and out.

Breakfast Operations

Prepare and serve a beautifully presented breakfast each morning.
Assist with menu preparation and presentation.
Ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are maintained.

Leadership & Operations

Supervise and support daily team operations.
Coordinate housekeeping assignments and daily priorities.
Maintain inventory and order supplies.
Assist with scheduling and operational planning.
Support light maintenance coordination and property readiness.

A Typical Day May Include

Preparing breakfast
Greeting arriving guests
Checking departing guests out
Cleaning or inspecting guest rooms
Completing laundry
Coordinating housekeeping
Ordering supplies
Responding to guest requests
Supporting maintenance needs
Preparing the property for the following day's arrivals

No two days are exactly alike, and successful Innkeepers enjoy variety, teamwork, and creating memorable guest experiences.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, lifting up to 40 pounds, making beds, cleaning guest rooms, assisting with laundry, preparing and serving breakfast, and performing other physical duties associated with operating a boutique inn.

Live-In Accommodations

This is a live-in position. A private on-site residence is provided as part of the compensation package, allowing the Innkeeper to become an integral part of the property's daily operations.

Compensation & Benefits
