GTS Technology is currently hiring a Technical Sales-System Engineer to support GTS's sales team as the key technical adviser and product advocate for Datacenter technology and services, and is responsible for the design, bill of materials generation, and sales process of datacenter hardware and software. The System’s Engineer leverages industry expertise to provide GTS’ sales team with comprehensive datacenter solutions to present to customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Leverage industry best practices to design datacenter offerings, including networking, server, storage, and software solutions.
- Provide pre-sales presentations, technical best practices, and solution demonstrations in a customer facing environment.
- Actively manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process to drive opportunities to close.
- Understand GTS’s contracts and pricing structure by product/service type and manufacturer.
- Build close relationships with GTS’ manufacturer and channel partners.
- Research, identify, and recommend new hardware, software, and applications to support future and/or complex management information systems (MIS) needs.
- Maintain knowledge on developments, trends, and best practices in technology and business networks.
- Maintain relevant industry and manufacturer-specific certifications.
- Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed customer initiatives.
- Work closely with Information Technology professionals within the company to ensure hardware is available for projects and is implemented as designed.
- Account for possible project challenges and constraints including, risks, lead times, project resources and scope.
- Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of customer initiatives.
- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of datacenter software and hardware design architecture.
- Professional experience working with and analyzing computer hardware and software.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with operating systems.
- Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
- Positive outlook in meeting challenges and working to a high level.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical staff.
- Ability to earn and maintain positive relationships both internally and externally.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior understanding of computer and networking hardware and software systems.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with a broad array of networking and systems hardware and software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Five or more years of experience in datacenter systems design and architecture.
- Industry certifications, such as:
- Dell Technical Architect certification (or equivalent).
- Palo Alto PSE and PCNSE / PCNSC certification (or equivalent)
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP (or equivalent)
- VMWare VCP certification (or equivalent)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- May be required to be on-call.
- May be required to travel.
